We are well into summer, August just a couple days away. Flowers in bloom, some starting to fade, and pumpkins growing, getting ready for the fall season. I've been collecting seeds for next year already.

I went ahead and pulled another container of potatoes because the stems and leaves were dead. Dead from a bug invasion, I think, not from them completing their growing cycle. But, I got a fairly good yield! I don't wash the dirt off until I'm ready to use them, but because I've been dodging rain all day, I accidentally left them outside when I had to run inside for another rain shower to pass by. Tonight is the night that I'm going to cook some of these for dinner. I need to find a special recipe for red potatoes. I'll update later with that potato dish. As for the other two containers with potatoes, they're growing strong still.

First year planting sunflowers right where the old barn used to be. I just love these flowers and plan on having several areas full of sunflowers as I build up the gardens.

My blank slate project. Come journey with me as I learn to create a beautiful oasis for my husband and myself. Im not a professional gardener and I know I have a lot to learn. Looking forward to the trial and error of working with raw land. Our house sits on 10 acres with a creek running through it and we have 41 acres next door, too. It's a big job, but I'm ready for it! Welcome!
