It may seem unlikely in the middle of the desert, but water power could have helped the Egyptians build the pyramids, a new study suggests.

Hello everyone! Mr. Pratt is an old friend of DIG, an all-organic community gardener, mentor, author, and retired teacher. We provide this link because he needs and deserves our help. The remnants of hurricane Beryl caused major damage to his property and residence, and he could really use our assistance to get growing again. Jeff donates much of his healthy harvests to others, we hope DIG customers can do a little to help him out in this time of need. Thank you !

💧 DIG - Drip Tip 💧
If your drip system starts from a typical outdoor hose bibb, a hose thread backflow preventer may be required by your water provider. In these cases, the backflow preventer (AVB) must be the first head-assembly component connected to the hose bibb. These devices are not rated to withstand constant pressure, so If the system is automated with a hose end timer, the timer connects directly to the hose bibb, then the backflow preventer should be connected to the timer outlet.

💧DIG Drip Tip💧 Check for Leaks:
Regularly checking for leaks throughout your irrigation system is a great way to keep your landscape healthy. Small leaks can lead to significant losses in water over time, as well as damage to surrounding areas. Inspecting supply lines, drip tubing, connectors, and micro sprinklers twice a year should help you identify any problems before they become more serious.

💧DIG DRIP TIP💧
With the ❄️winter season fast approaching now is a good time to both winterize your irrigation system and inspect for damage/leaks.
1- If your battery powered irrigation timer will go unused for 2 months or more, please remove the batteries & close the hose bib/faucet.
2- Clean Filter Regularly: Dirty filters can restrict water flow and reduce the performance of your irrigation system. It is important to regularly check the filter for debris or buildup and clean it if necessary. Cleaning the filter element will ensure that water is evenly distributed to all areas, so plants can get the nutrients they need and stay healthy.

💧 DIG Drip Tip 💧
It’s always a good idea not to plant large shrubs directly in front of a jet sprayer or micro-sprinkler, because the water will soon be blocked by foliage and the coverage area will be reduced. If necessary, prune the plants near the sprayers to keep the foliage from blocking the spray, and use rigid riser extensions to raise the micro-sprayer up so the spray range and system uniformity are not reduced.
