The City of Virginia Parks and Recreation Department is seeking seasonal Outdoor Rink Attendants to help maintain and supervise the city’s outdoor skating facilities.

Position Responsibilities
• Maintain the outdoor rink surface to ensure safe conditions for all user
• Provide supervision and assistance to patrons using the skating facilities
• Keep accurate records and prepare reports on rink usage

Position Details
· Wage: $15.54 per hour
· Hours: Approximately 10–24 hours per week
· Schedule: Evenings and weekends – a great job for students!
· Season: Estimated start around Christmas; runs through mid-March (weather dependent)

We received several animals today, one of which is this barred owl. We suspect the owl was hit by a car, as has been the case for the many raptors we have received in the past week. In fact, this owl was found within a very short distance of two of our other feathered friends.

As always, please be careful and keep an eye out for animals on the road. Birds need space to take off, and if they get spooked when they are feasting on animals on the side of the road, they can easily fly right into your vehicle. Watch out for our mammal friends as well, especially as it gets darker earlier and animals are on the move.
