MDG is extremely proud of our work on the New Point Comfort Lighthouse Restoration, which recently won an HRACRE Award of Merit in the category of Best Renovated or Historic Rehabilitation Project!

MDG served as the Prime Consultant for the restoration of this historic lighthouse, which was constructed in 1804. This approximately 66' tall structure has a sandstone exterior with a cast iron lantern room and gallery deck sitting on top. The lantern was converted to electric in 1960, and the lighthouse was decommissioned in 1963. This is the 3rd oldest lighthouse still standing on the Chesapeake Bay (out of four original lighthouses) and is the 10th oldest lighthouse still standing in the United States. Thomas Jefferson commissioned its construction, and it is on both the State and National Registers for Historic Structures.

Congrats, team!
