Your finished floorcovering will only be as good as the substrate it is installed over!

This gym floor had similarities to a skate park with the amount of buckling that was taking place in the existing wood. High moisture in concrete is the number one reason for floor failures, as shown here in this 'before' photo at a school we recently started renovating.

We just completed phase I which involved demo of majority of the existing wood and wood subfloor system. We then shotblasted the concrete slab prior to installing a 2 part 100% solid epoxy waterproofing system from Schönox - A Sika Brand, and then primed and poured 85,800 pounds (1,560 bags) of a self leveling underlayment to build up the subfloor height for the new Tarkett Sports floor installation.

This past weekend we moved the bleachers away from the wall in preparation for phase II subfloor preparation where will be pouring 470 more bags to build up the next area prior to completing our installation and painting new game lines.

Tarkett Sports Maple installation is completed for Norfolk State's gym floor.

Remaining we have 2 coats of oil based finish/sealer, game lines/logo paint, 2 additional coats of a water based finish/sealer, and installation of ADA ramping thresholds.

Today we will sand the floor and apply the first coat of finish.

Client called Monday afternoon (School System):

'We need you to replace carpet in 2 classrooms prior to next Monday when our new furniture and built ins get delivered'

WC Carpenter Representative:

'We can make that happen. We will need a selection confirmed asap after we measure and quote the job'

We measured Monday end of day and got the quote sent. We ordered material on Tuesday, carpet was delivered on Wednesday, and install of 168 yards was completed Thursday morning before 11 am.

This was all completed within 60 hours of the original request for new flooring. We're grateful for William M. Bird Company and CONTRACT180 for their position in our market to get material delivered quickly! Often within 24 hours after ordering.

We look forward to continued success and a partnership that allows us to exceed client expectations!

We recently completed this lobby renovation for a Class A office space in Virginia Beach, and this one turned out GREAT!

This project included new UMORE floor tile from Spartan Surfaces new Tarkett 8" millwork base to replace existing wood base, and new accent paint extending to the 2nd floor corridor.

This flooring scope entailed demo of approximately 620 sf of existing ceramic tile, surface preparation with MAPEI USA products, and installation of 620 sf of new floor tile. Our team worked efficiently and this scope was completed in one weekend which minimized disruptions to existing tenants.

This tile line from UMORE is stunning, and offers extremely competitive price points. We appreciate our partnership and continued support from our rep Connor & the Spartan Surfaces team!

If you are considering a renovation to your office space and you are concerned that's not a possibility because of your existing office furniture- don't be! WC Carpenter specializes in occupied renovations, particularly with existing modular furniture in place.

We were delighted to assist with this flooring renovation for AGI in one of their corporate offices. This particular job totaled approximately 12,000 square feet of new Mannington Commercial carpet tile which was completed in 2 phases, broken out over 2 weeks.

This one turned out great, and we appreciate the continued support and trust in our company!

To make things even sweeter- Tim Caudle was recognized as an 'Emerging Leader' by Floor Focus Magazine, which is an honor given to rising stars under 40 years old that are making big impacts, and paving a way forward in this industry! Congrats Tim!
