And that's a wrap on FPC 2026!

Our Studio+ team had a great few days in Orlando at the Florida Plans & Construction Seminar + Expo, connecting with healthcare leaders, industry partners, and future collaborators. From conversations about the future of healthcare facilities to catching up with familiar faces and making new connections, FPC continues to be a valuable opportunity to come together as an industry.

We’re proud to be part of Florida’s healthcare design community and excited to carry the ideas and relationships from this year’s event forward!

What does it look like to design a school with growth in mind?

At Babcock Neighborhood School, that meant creating more than additional classroom space. The 63,423-square-foot expansion added 36 classrooms alongside science and makers labs, art and performing arts spaces, ESE classrooms, intervention rooms, and areas designed for collaboration and focused learning.

As the community continues to evolve, the school was designed to evolve with it. Flexible learning environments, spaces for connection, and specialized resources give students and teachers different ways to learn, gather, create, and collaborate throughout the day.

It’s a reminder that designing for growth isn’t just about adding square footage. It’s about creating spaces that can continue supporting a community well into the future.

Construction is moving along at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center's new outpatient surgery center in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Just a few months after celebrating the project’s topping off, the 60,000-square-foot, two-story center is continuing to take shape. Each milestone brings the project closer to expanding access to advanced outpatient surgical care for patients across the region.

Developed through Arthrex’s Surgery Center Innovation (ASC X) program, the eight-operating-room center is designed around efficient, patient-focused care. Thoughtful planning supports optimized patient and staff flow, along with a dedicated arrival and discharge experience focused on privacy, comfort, and ease of access.

It’s exciting to see the vision taking shape as construction progresses.

An unoccupied suite became an opportunity to support the next chapter of cardiac care at Naples Comprehensive Health - NCH's North Naples Hospital Campus.

Studio+ transformed the suite into a new home for the Cardiology program, with exam rooms and support areas designed around the needs of caregivers and patients.

Relocating the program also makes way for a new Cath/EP Lab, allowing NCH to continue expanding specialized cardiac care.

A thoughtful renovation that makes more possible.

A great day to support our clients and the communities they serve.

Steve Bull and Tony Pacheco Taylor joined the Brea Mayor’s Cup in support of our client, Brea-Olinda Unified School District, and the Brea Education Foundation. Studio+ is happy to sponsor an event that brings the community together, while giving back to local students and schools.

A great day on the course, supporting a great cause.

Every detail of a simulation environment plays a role in preparing healthcare professionals for what comes next.

At the NCH Judith and Marvin Herb Family Simulation Center at Naples Comprehensive Health - NCH, a highly realistic learning environment gives healthcare professionals the opportunity to practice procedures, navigate complex scenarios, and strengthen teamwork and communication.

The center features four simulation rooms, laboratories, an exam room, immersive training and debriefing spaces, control rooms, and flexible classrooms designed to support a range of learning experiences. A sophisticated palette of natural wood, gray tones, and blue accents brings warmth to the technology-forward environment.

This Healthcare Simulation Week, we’re proud to highlight a space designed for learning, collaboration, and preparation.

The people who use a healthcare space every day often see things a designer cannot.

That is why Patty Rice, RA, NOMA, LEED AP, Sr. Healthcare Planner at Studio+, starts with the end user.

The everyday experiences of end users reveal opportunities that plans and standards alone cannot. By bringing them into the design process, the design team can better understand what works, what does not, and what could make the space work better.

For Patty, good healthcare planning means listening to patients, families, and staff, then putting design decisions to the test. It means stepping into their perspective, challenging assumptions, and asking a simple question throughout the process: Does this work for the person who will actually use it?

Because the best healthcare spaces are not designed around assumptions. They start by listening.

The best retail spaces don't tell you where to go. They make you want to keep exploring.

At Altar'd State - SouthPark, the experience begins with an open retail floor anchored by a dramatic skylight. From there, lighting, materials, displays, and architectural details create distinct moments as you move through the store.

A series of arches marks the transition into a more intimate fitting area, where the scale and atmosphere shift to create a comfortable place to pause. The journey ultimately brings you back to a checkout area that reinforces the materials, textures, and character found throughout the space.

Each area has its own purpose, but together they create one cohesive experience where the architecturel features becomes part of how customers discover and engage with the brand.

School safety is not defined by a single entrance, system, or technology. It is designed in layers.

From the campus perimeter to the classroom, each layer plays a role in creating a safer learning environment. That starts with understanding potential risks and continues through thoughtful site planning, controlled access, clear visibility, monitoring, communication, and emergency procedures.

As Principal Steve Bull explains, the key is how those layers work together. Primary, secondary, and tertiary entrances each serve a different purpose. Technology can strengthen security, but policies, training, and the people operating those systems are just as important.

For architects and school leaders, the goal is not to add security as an afterthought. It is to consider safety from the beginning and integrate it into an environment that still feels welcoming, functional, and focused on learning.
