The City of Auburn's wastewater treatment facility serves approximately 27,000 residents and has been a critical part of the community's infrastructure for nearly a century.

As part of Auburn's $90 million biosolids modernization project, O'Connell Electric delivered the electrical systems that power the facility's next generation of operations. Working within an active treatment plant, our team coordinated complex tie-ins, power transitions, instrumentation, controls, communications, and life-safety systems while maintaining uninterrupted plant operations.

Project highlights:
- 43,000+ labor hours
- New 12.47kV electrical service and 4,000A main distribution system
- 1.6MW emergency standby generation
- Campus-wide SCADA, fiber optic, and network infrastructure
- More than 900,000 feet of installed cabling

It wasn’t planned, but the timing was right on for us to hang the American Flag in our new fabrication shop this week.

We have an incredibly proud union workforce producing a lot of work in our off-site construction facilities and on our job sites. Some are veterans. Many are closely connected to the military, veteran, and first responder communities.

For all of us, 9/11 means something a little different, but one thing that brings us together is the pride we all have as we stand up for our rights and freedoms America represents.

Let us never forget.

On Labor Day, we recognize the contributions of workers who help build and sustain our nation’s economy, infrastructure, and communities.

For an IBEW signatory contractor, the holiday also reflects the important role labor unions have played in advancing workplace safety, fair wages, quality training, and workers’ rights. Today is a reminder of the value of skilled labor and the lasting impact working men and women have on our country’s progress.

What a summer it has been. We hope you all had an enjoyable and SAFE summer. Take a look back at August with us!

1-5: The marketing team has been on the road all summer meeting up with our teams in the field and in the office. They've been working on an exciting project we can't wait to share with you all soon.

6-7: Off-site fabrication shop visit to setup more timelapse cameras and meet the crew making things happen for our field teams.

8-9: Crews were mobilized to fix a broken transmission pole in Lowville, NY a few weeks ago.

This timelapse shows the constant activity inside our prefab shop, where assemblies are built, staged, and prepared for installation.

Our off-site construction methods help create greater labor and material stability, improve planning and coordination, and gives field crews the resources they need to stay focused on safe, productive installation work.
