Göbeklitepe is a Neolithic site constructed and used from 9500 - 8000 BCE. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. This is a Pre-Pottery (PPN) and Pre-Agricultural site featuring communal megalithic stone buildings. It is located in modern South Eastern Türkiye. Inclusive Architecture - Clarify Pathways With Wider Doors

Clarity of pathway integrated with wide, accessible doors. Keeping the layout of the building clean and the circulation straightforward, eliminating obstacles allows for more free movement for all using the space without highlighting "accessible" needs. Clear access and wider doors promote a more open experience as well as ease of use for occupants. Gives the plan a strong, clear overall organizing principle.

Göbeklitepe, Türkiye 9,600 BCE
When Göbeklitepe was uncovered, it put into question our understanding of the development of civilization since it is pre-agriculture and pre-pottery. It is so wildly ancient it almost can’t be believed – we are closer in time to Stonehenge, than Stonehenge is to Göbeklitepe, I had to visit this place – when I first saw it I could hardly breath. I am now obsessed to learn everything I can about the Taş Tepeler culture.

I was interviewed for this article - and it was just published in VOGUE Arabia! It's about women taking travel sabbaticals and how it can shift work and life. In my case I stepped away from running my architecture firm to pursue interests in archaeology at a dig site in Peru last summer. This has led to research and writing on ancient buildings, more travel, and work on my book "Building Built Us" about the influence of early architecture on the development of civilization.
