Moving water is better in October than it is in July. The air is quiet, the sound carries further, and the stone darkens up in the wet. A boulder feature is mostly a grading and plumbing problem solved before the first rock goes in, which is why this one still looks like it grew there.

A seat wall means nobody is dragging chairs across the patio to sit by the fire. 🔥 It is there in October, it is there in February, and it doubles as the edge that keeps the mulch out of the stone. The pumpkins are seasonal. The seating is not.

Twenty seconds of a build that took months. Excavation, base, grade, then stone, then everything people actually notice. The base is the part nobody posts and the reason the finished space still sits level years later. Design takes time and permits take time, so the spring build slots go to whoever starts now. Every sloped yard has a line where the grade stops cooperating. Outcropping stone sets that line and holds it, and it reads as part of the hillside instead of something bolted onto it. Big rock, set deep, backfilled and drained so water moves through instead of behind.
