🏠 Built Stronger From the Roof Down

Another major roofing transformation underway by Citrus Roofing & Construction.

This home previously had a shingle roof wrapping around the pitched perimeter, tying into multiple flat-roof sections along the back and sides. Instead of simply covering over the existing conditions, our team is rebuilding the system the right way.

We’re removing the old shingles and all existing flat-roof coverings, then rebuilding the flat sections with tapered ISO insulation board to create proper drainage.

The pitched portions of the home will receive 1.5” aluminum standing-seam metal roofing, while the newly tapered flat sections will be finished with a modified bitumen roofing system.

But one of the most important upgrades is underneath the roof.

We removed the bottom 2 feet of plywood around the entire perimeter of the home so we could properly add nails to the existing strapping and bring the roof connection up to current hurricane-code requirements and today’s insurance standards.

It’s the work you don’t always see that can make the biggest difference when the weather turns.

Sometimes the most important part of a roofing project is what you uncover once the roof is opened up.

On this project, our Citrus Roofing & Construction team discovered two hip sections that had been framed down with the original truss package but were never properly aligned with the rest of the roof.

The result was roughly a 1½-inch hump tapering down to zero over a 12-foot span.

With a standing seam metal roof, those panels run continuously from the eave up to the hip line. Simply installing the new panel over that existing condition would have created a noticeable bump right through the middle of the finished roof.

We could have covered it, blamed it on the original construction, and moved on.

That’s not how we work.

Instead, we opened the section, corrected and planed the framing to create a smooth, flat surface for the new roof system. Once inside, we also discovered the smaller trusses in those areas had never been properly tied into the trusses on either side.

So we corrected that too — reframing, securing, and tying everything back together properly before moving forward.

A beautiful finished roof starts with what’s underneath it.

🏡🔨 Another incredible project underway in John’s Island!

The Citrus Roofing & Construction crew has been spread out all over town, working hard for our clients and bringing quality craftsmanship to every job — big or small.

Today we’re making progress on this beautiful home in John’s Island, including an area many homeowners don’t think about enough: the chimney. A huge number of Florida chimneys are wood-framed, which means keeping them properly protected from our intense sun, wind, rain, and humidity is incredibly important.

🏫 WELCOME BACK, IMAGINE SOUTH VERO! ❤️

As students, teachers, staff and families return tomorrow, we couldn’t be more proud and thankful.

Over the past several months, Citrus Roofing & Construction completed the largest project in our company’s history right here at Imagine South Vero — more than 66,000 square feet of roofing, rebuilt from the structure up with a new standing-seam metal roof and countless improvements along the way.

But what we’ll remember most isn’t the size of the project — it’s the people.

Thank you to the entire Imagine South Vero family for the trust, kindness, cold water, snow cones and encouragement you showed our crews through some very hot summer days. You cared about our team, and we cared deeply about your school.

We’re proud of what we built, but even more thankful for the relationships we built along the way.
