💧 What's that little tank above your water heater?

It's called an expansion tank, and it has an important job!

As water heats up, it expands. In a closed plumbing system, the expansion tank helps absorb that extra pressure, protecting your plumbing and water heater.

📋 Did you know? Plumbing code requires thermal expansion protection in closed water systems. An expansion tank is one of the most common ways to meet this requirement!

⚠️ Expansion tanks can fail over time, so it's a good idea to have yours checked!

Why does softened water somethimes feel "slippery"?

We hear this one all the time:
I can't get the soap off! 🧼

That slick feeling usually isn't soap left on your skin. Hard water minerals can react with soap and leave residue behind. With softened water, soap rinses differently because those hardness mineral have been removed.
That's also why you may find you need LESS soap, shampoo and detergent after installing a softener.

35 drops vs. 5 drops. Same amount of water. Same soap. 🧼
The raw hard water on the right took 35 drops of soap to get the results we were looking for.
The softened water on the left took only 5 drops.
What are the test tubes? That's our precipitation test, showing the difference between the raw water and softened water.
This is why we test water instead of guessing.
