🌸 A hard-to-come-across Daphne + only ONE left!

If Daphne × burkwoodii ‘Carol Mackie’ has been on your garden wish list, this may be your chance. We currently have just one left, and it’s not a shrub you see available everywhere.

‘Carol Mackie’ stays a manageable 2–3' tall, but brings plenty of interest with wonderfully fragrant pink flowers in May and creamy white-edged foliage that looks good throughout the growing season.

Its rounded habit fits beautifully along a foundation, beside a garden path, in a rock garden, or toward the front of a mixed shrub border.

🌸➡️❤️ White, pink, then ruby red—‘Ruby Slippers’ changes its look as the season goes on!

Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Ruby Slippers’ is a compact oakleaf hydrangea with upright flower clusters that emerge white in late spring, quickly blush pink, and mature to a rich ruby red.

And the color doesn’t stop with the flowers. Its deep green, oak-shaped leaves turn beautiful shades of mahogany red in fall, while mature stems develop exfoliating bark for added winter texture.

At just 3–4' tall, it’s easy to fit into smaller gardens, foundation plantings, or the front of a mixed shrub border.

🍂 Looking for a hydrangea with GREAT fall foliage?

Take a look at Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Jetstream’. Its lustrous dark green leaves transform into rich orange-red shades in fall, giving this compact oakleaf hydrangea another season to shine after its summer flowers have faded.

Large white blooms appear in summer and gradually age to soft pink. Strong stems and a dense, upright habit help keep the plant looking neat and full without the floppy growth seen in some hydrangeas.

At 5–6' tall, it’s a great choice for foundation plantings, mixed shrub borders, or grouped along a woodland edge.

🌸 What’s still blooming? Probably more than you realize!

Even with nighttime temperatures dipping into the 30s here in Maine, the gardens are far from finished.

We’re still finding plenty of flowers among the anemones, sedums, Leucanthemums, hostas, clematis, and hydrangeas—along with all the changing foliage and textures that make the fall garden so interesting.

🍂 It’s a great reminder that a thoughtfully planted garden doesn’t have to stop blooming when summer ends. Mixing early, midseason, and late-blooming plants can keep color going right into fall.

If you are in town for the Common Ground Country Fair, we are just a hop, skip and a jump away. Come take a walk through the gardens and see what’s still putting on a show!

Anemone x hybrida ‘Frilly Knickers™’ produces fully double, ruffled white flowers with soft lavender coloring on the backs of the petals. As the blooms move in the breeze, flashes of lavender show through for a beautiful two-tone effect.

Dark flower stems rise above olive-green foliage from late summer into early fall, bringing fresh color and airy movement to the garden just as many summer perennials begin to wind down.

Anemone hupehensis ‘Fantasy™ Snow Angel’ brings a fresh burst of color from late summer into fall, with icy white, daisy-like flowers surrounding sunny yellow centers.

🌸 Salmon-pink on the outside, golden-yellow in the center—‘Soft Salmon Joy’ is anything but ordinary!

Paeonia lactiflora ‘Soft Salmon Joy’ produces distinctive anemone-form flowers with broad salmon-pink guard petals surrounding a full, feathery golden-yellow center. The combination gives each bloom wonderful texture and warm color.

Its compact 28–33" height makes it easy to work into the middle of a sunny perennial border or cutting garden. Try pairing it with creamy whites, soft yellows, lavender, or blue-flowering perennials to complement those salmon tones.
