Found in the field 🔎: Recent sightings from our technicians include this curious raccoon, a bat resting near a customer’s home, and a true bug sporting some bright red coloring! This bright red color is common for some types of true bugs, such as box elder bugs, either after molting or when they are young.

Got Boxelder Bugs?

In last week's post, we mentioned Boxelder Bug treatments. These pests can become especially active in the fall, and you may have seen them around your home before—even if you weren’t quite sure what kind of bug they were!

Or maybe you know these bugs very well, but aren’t sure what you can do about them. Boxelder Bugs can be tricky to manage, but we can help significantly reduce the number you’re seeing around your home.

🍂 Prepare Your Home for Fall! 🍂

As we transition into a new season, you may start to see some new (and unwanted!) pests around your home. So, what can you do to help protect your home from fall pest invasions?

-Keep leaves cleaned up: Rake up fallen leaves and dispose of them promptly. Piles of leaves can provide great harborage for a variety of pests!
-Clear out clutter: Early fall is an active season for spiders. Cleaning out cluttered areas where spiders like to hide (such as attics, basements, and storage spaces) can help reduce activity.
-Keep an eye out for box elder bugs & stink bugs: These pests tend to come out in droves in the fall. While there’s no way to completely prevent them, we recommend contacting Aspen Pest Control for a treatment as soon as you start noticing them swarming and landing on your home’s siding.

🕸️ Spider webs taking over? We’ve got you covered!

Did you know spider web removal is one of the many benefits of regular pest control?

We’re currently in peak spider season, which means you may be noticing more webs building up around the exterior of your home. During our regular treatments, our technicians use a brush on an extendable pole (pictured below) to remove accessible spider webs from around the outside of your home.

Not only does this help with spider control, but it also helps keep your home looking fresh and clean! 🏡✨

Although we’re getting close to the end of summer, wasp and yellow jacket season is still in full swing! Depending on the weather, these stinging insects can remain active well into the fall.

As the season goes on, it becomes more common to find large nests like the one below, or wasp and yellow jacket nests in hidden areas like attics and wall voids.

How can you tell if you might have a nest inside your home? Keep an eye out for wasps repeatedly flying around the same area and disappearing into a gap or crack in your siding. In some cases, you may even hear buzzing coming from inside the walls!

These hidden nests can be very tricky to deal with on your own. Fortunately, Aspen Pest Control can help! Give us a call to find out more, or visit our website to learn about our wasp treatment options.

🪰 Today’s Product Recommendation: InVade Bio Drain!

At Aspen Pest Control, we get plenty of calls about different types of flies—and drain flies are a very common one.

Drain flies breed in the buildup of organic matter found inside sink, shower, and other drains. To help with this issue, we recommend InVade Bio Drain. You can find it on Amazon or at most home improvement stores. Click the link below to find where to purchase!
