Sometimes you find stuff that amazes you.

In this home there was an accumulation of code deficiencies. One in particular stood out.
Somebody had installed Romex on the face of the stud, at the exact height where cabinets are fastened to the wall. The best thing is that each screw missed it, except one!! The one screw that hit the Romex just managed to clip the wires diagonally so that it hit the neutral from one and the ground from the other, avoiding any breakers tripping.

Somebody had installed an electrical panelboard inside the kitchen cabinets.

There is no exceptions on NEC code that lets you move your coffee mugs over to gain working clearance.

The panelboard is now an outdoor rated equipment, with proper working clearance,
and sits in an accessible location.

Did you guys know that Romex has been around since 1926? It has changed with time from the insulation, to adding a ground wire in the cable.
In this photo we added new wiring to an upstairs remodel, where older k**b and tube fed lights. Receptacles were nonexistent upstairs which was normal when the home was built in 1905.

Leviton makes smart panels that lets you control your breakers with an App. *
These sleek panels are an upgrade to traditional load centers, the downside is that, they limited to only leviton breakers. This becomes an issue if the company dissolves in the future, or supply issues arise. *
An alternative smart panel that has the ability to utilize different breaker manufacturers is the Span panel. You can find out more info on our site!

If fuses are blowing please don’t add copper pipe to replace them.
When fuses blow it means they are doing their job and protecting wire and equipment. No fuses or breakers means no protection. No protection leads to damaged equipment and melted wires.
First photo is how we found a disconnect the second is our replacement.

It’s funny the things you find in walls.
Even though Duck tape is extremely versatile it does not replace junction boxes.

Remember to always use licensed electricians and avoid this type of work!
