Today’s challenge: 2014 Audi A4 allroad! 🚘

On this particular model, getting a new key programmed requires removing the BCM2 module from the trunk and using the APB131 to force a key and retrieve the CS (Component Security) data needed to program a new key.

Customer contacted me early this morning after losing all the keys to her 2021 GMC Yukon.

I looked up the keys, thinking it was one of the older versions of the newer models. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. This is one of GM’s newer-generation vehicles with a much more advanced theft-deterrent and immobilizer system designed to make unauthorized key programming and vehicle theft more difficult.

When all keys are lost on these, it’s not as simple as cutting a key and programming one fob. The vehicle requires the proper security procedure and equipment to add the new remotes to the immobilizer system. In this case, I have to program two new key fobs for the vehicle to be properly set up and operational, along with using the specialized equipment and cable required to communicate with the vehicle through the OBD-II port.

I quoted the customer $600 for two key fobs and programming.

She told me, “That’s crazy.”

I said, “Okay, thank you!” 😂

So far, I’m the only locksmith in the area equipped to handle these newer Yukons. Now I’m curious how much the dealership is going to charge… 🤔😂

Sometimes that $600 locksmith bill doesn’t sound quite so crazy after you get the dealer’s price! 🔑🚙

This customer was all the way in Seligman, Missouri, about an hour and a half from my house. I arrived, asked for the broken key, and did what I do best—make something with these hands! 🛠️🔑

Less than 5 minutes later, he had a brand-new working key for his 1992 Toyota Pickup! 🙌

Another customer back on the road and another job done! 💪

2021 Chevy 2500 customer was having to jiggle the key just to get the truck to start. I picked up a new ignition lock cylinder and matched the wafers to fit the customer’s existing key, but after inspecting the vehicle on-site, I found the ignition switch just needed a little TLC. After making the necessary adjustments, the key turned smoothly and the truck started like it should—no more wiggling the key!

2013 Jeep Cherokee – Customer’s vehicle suddenly displayed a “Key Damaged” message and would no longer recognize the key.

After diagnosing the issue, I initially attempted to program multiple new keys, but none of them would communicate with the vehicle. Further testing revealed the problem wasn’t the keys at all—it was a failed WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) module.

We replaced the faulty WIN module, programmed two new keys, and got everything working properly again. The customer is back on the road with reliable keys and a fully functioning ignition system.
