***FREEZE WARNING***
As we all know, North Texas is under a freeze warning. To help prevent damage to pool equipment, here are some tips to keep you running during the upcoming freezing period.
1.Make sure your pool has plenty of water. Water evaporation occurs when ambient temperatures drop below water temperature.
2. Bring a water hose INSIDE your home. This prevents a frozen water hose that you might just need. If hose bibs freeze, or are inaccessible you can use your washing machine hook up to fill your pool in a pinch.
3. Make sure to religiously empty skimmers, and pump baskets of all debris. As long as pumps are running, and circulating your chances of freeze damage decrease.
4. Add a few 2 liter soda bottles half full of salt water to the pool. Salt water freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water. The weight of the water in the bottles will cause the bottles to stand upright, the air in the bottles will allow the water in the pool to expand a little if the pool water freezes. This relieves pressure from ice helping prevent damage to tile line.
5. IF YOU LOSE POWER, we have pictures posted below of the most common pool equipment, and where all drain plugs are located if you have to winterize your pool. Be sure to open ALL valves if this is the case.
