Ever wonder how we replace aging underground pipes without tearing up a neighborhood's yards, driveways, or street? Meet PIPE BURSTING!
This trenchless method is one of the most effective tools in our arsenal, and our crew is using it right now on a project in northwest Omaha to replace old cast iron water lines. Instead of digging a long open trench the entire length of the pipe, we dig just two small access pits. From there, we pull a specialized bursting head through the old pipe, fracturing it outward into the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling a brand-new seamless HDPE pipe into place behind it.

Less disruption. Less time. Better results. Our team does this work at a high level and this project is a great example of that.

At Valley Corp, safety is not just a policy. It is something our people live every day on the job.
Superintendent Radley Clemens takes a moment on site to walk us through how our crews use trench boxes to protect everyone working in and around an open excavation. Right now, his crew is 10 feet down, installing 8-inch sanitary sewer, with a trench box in the hole, spoils piled back 2 feet from the edge, and a ladder in place for safe entry and exit.
Radley puts it best: a trench box keeps everyone safe, whether that's a worker in the hole, a crew member working up top, or visitors who come out to the site. It prevents cave-ins, sloughing, and loose material from rolling in from the spoils pile.

Meet the John Deere 9520. 450 horsepower, articulated 4WD, and built to pull hard all day without breaking a sweat.
When you’re doing the work we do, you need the right piece of equipment to get the job done right. On a Valley Corp site, you will find it pulling scrapers across a mass grading operation, hauling loaded side-dump trailers through soft ground (where a highway truck would get stuck), conditioning soil for stabilization work, or pulling compaction rollers across freshly placed fill. When the ground is loose, wet, and unforgiving, this is the machine that keeps things moving.
Four-wheel drive and articulated steering put all 450 horses to the ground. No bogging. No stopping. Just dirt moving.

As a superintendent, Radley has consistently stepped up to tackle some of our most challenging utility projects on the toughest sites. That kind of tenacity does not go unnoticed. His dedication and drive over the past decade have been a real motivator for the people around him and a big part of why our team performs the way it does.

Before a community can be built, the ground has to be prepared.
At a 260-acre development right here in Valley, our crew is extracting more than 1.1 million cubic yards of sand from 40 feet below the water table to create the ground for a brand new neighborhood with a lake.
It is one of the more unique projects we have ever been a part of, and we are proud to be doing it right in our own backyard.

This year marks Ryan's 5th anniversary with Valley Corp, and we are glad to take a moment to recognize him.
For 5 years, Ryan has kept our trucks and equipment running at full capacity. Keeping our fleet running at full capacity is not a small job. It is how we make good on our promises to clients, and Ryan plays a direct role in that every single day.
While he might be quiet when you first meet him, Ryan has a great sense of humor and a natural ability to keep things light when the pressure is on. He is not the loudest person in the room, but his work speaks volumes.
