We are approaching late winter and the window to prune trees is closing. Trimming trees in the winter is ideal because it will cause less stress to a dormant tree. It will also reduce the risk of pests and disease because bacteria, insects and fungi are also more dormant at this time.

Some trees are okay to trim into early spring; however, this is not the case with the oak tree. With the threat of oak wilt in nearby counties we recommend trimming your oaks no later than February.
