Two weeks after aeration and overseeding, this is what working looks like. 🌾

Bare dirt. Straw. Not much to look at.

That's the part nobody posts. Week four is when it starts filling in, and by the first hard frost the roots are deep enough to carry it through winter.

If your yard is at the should-I-just-sod-it stage, we'll walk it with you and tell you honestly which one you need.

Labor Day, and the seeding window is officially open. 🌱

If your lawn came out of August thin, patchy, or more w**d than grass, the next five weeks decide what it looks like in April. Core aeration and overseeding now, roots through October, thick lawn in spring.

Seed it in spring instead and it spends the season fighting heat and crabgrass.

Three days until the fall calendar fills. ⏰

Book by Labor Day and you get priority placement for aeration, sod, mulch and planting this fall. After Monday we move to a waitlist for anything past early October.

Johnson County K-State Extension puts the cool-season seeding window at early-to-mid September, with workable results to about October 15. Olathe's average first freeze is October 23.

The math doesn't move for anybody.

The tree stayed. 🌳 Everyone told them it had to come out. It didn't. 12' x 17' composite deck addition in Shawnee β€” 204 sq ft, two levels, built around a birch that wasn't going anywhere. The frame gets laid out around the trunk, nothing bolted to the tree, and the opening is cut wider than the trunk so it can keep growing. Got something in your yard you've been told you have to lose? Everyone thinks spring is the best time for lawn care. It's not. πŸ‚ Fall is when cool-season grass (the kind most Johnson County lawns have) grows its strongest roots. Aerating and overseeding now sets you up for a thick, green lawn next spring.

Fall is the best time of year to fix a Kansas lawn - and the window is shorter than most people expect. πŸ‚

Johnson County K-State Extension puts the ideal seeding window for cool-season grass at early-to-mid September, with workable results through about October 15. Olathe's average first freeze is October 23.

That's the stretch where a fall refresh actually pays off:

🌱 Core aeration & overseeding
🟩 Sod installation
πŸ‚ Mulch refresh & bed cleanup
🌳 Shrub & tree planting
πŸŽƒ Seasonal color - mums, pansies, ornamental grasses

Grass seeded in September roots through the fall and comes back thick in April. Seed it in spring and it fights w**ds and heat instead.
