The spa shows the cloudy water without the barrel. Pan over to the pool, and you’ll see the difference with our Orenda barrel startup.

But this is about more than clear water.

When fill water isn’t properly balanced, it can pull calcium from the fresh plaster as it cures. That can create plaster dust, the white, chalky material you see settling on the surface. It means more brushing, rising pH, and potential damage to the new finish.

The Orenda startup helps balance the water as the pool fills, minimizing plaster dust and helping protect the plaster from the beginning.

This barrel method isn’t standard practice with every builder. It takes extra preparation, testing, and attention and we’re OK with that.

This wasn’t your typical pool remodel.

This pool was affected by ASR, which meant simply replacing the tile, coping, or plaster wasn’t going to solve the problem. The damaged structure had to be addressed.

Swipe through to see the process — demolition, removing the affected structure, rebuilding the pool with new steel and a new shell, and working our way all the way back to fresh plaster.

What started as an ASR-damaged pool is now getting a completely new life.

There’s a huge difference between making a pool look new and actually rebuilding it the right way.

Your pool layout is going to look a little bigger and deeper than you expected, and that’s completely normal.

We account for the 12-inch gunite shell surrounding the pool. So, if your finished pool is 30 feet wide, expect the layout to measure roughly 32 feet wide. If it’s designed to be 6 feet deep, expect the excavation to reach approximately 7 feet into the ground.

The layout you see is not the finished pool size. It includes the structure that makes your pool strong.

What does a custom backyard under $90,000 actually look like in Leander, Texas?

This project includes a custom pool with full-width entry steps, multiple built-in benches and a depth transition from 3½ to 6½ feet.

The centerpiece is a 14-foot raised wall completely wrapped in Sapphire deco tile with three water sheers. That same deco look continues through the waterline tile around the entire pool, tying the design together with the Dark Walnut travertine coping.

The homeowners also received:

• 382 square feet of concrete decking
• Three built-in umbrella sleeves
• An adjustable louvered patio cover
• Jandy phone automation
• A variable-speed pump and oversized filter
• Automatic Polaris pool cleaning
• A Raypak system that heats and chills the water
