Protecting this treehouse. When you use giant pine trees to support your Tree House, it’s important to keep an eye on them and make sure they stay healthy. This particular treehouse was built directly into the Pines, but the tops of the Pines were dead. In order to ensure safety they needed to be removed before a big storm handled the work. We got to it just in time.

Learn about the Port-a- Wrap. a heavy-duty rope-friction device used in tree work. It attaches near the base of a tree and helps the ground crew safely lower large limbs or trunk sections cut by the climber.

The lowering rope wraps around the metal cylinder. Adding more wraps creates more friction, allowing a ground worker to control a very heavy piece of wood without having to hold its full weight.

It is especially useful for:

* Lowering limbs over houses, RVs, fences, or landscaping
* Controlling heavy trunk sections
* Reducing strain on the ground crew
* Preventing the rope from wrapping directly around and damaging the tree
* Quickly releasing or adjusting the lowering rope

It must be correctly sized, securely attached, and operated by someone trained in arborist rigging. The rope, blocks, slings, and Port-a-Wrap all need working-load ratings appropriate for the expected forces—falling wood can create loads far greater than its resting weight.

Rigging down a partially dead cottonwood tree that had become very dangerous for a resident in The Lamplighter RV Park in Star Valley. This was a very technical job and every limb needed to come down in a controlled manner to protect property. Steven mapped it out and everything went as planned. 💯 Thank you to Marcos Ramos for hiring us to do the climbing and rigging.
