Designing for sustainability is an art form for me. There are countless variables. Each project is unique.

Hi, if you are looking for a sustainable designer to create a building suited to your needs and not what they currently design and build in the housing market, send me a message. If you are in the Brenham, College Station, Belton, or Temple Texas area, or even beyond, I'd be happy to visit with you and possibly discuss your ideas, desires, and/or problems getting what you want, and my solutions. I believe working with steel structures and metal roofing is the most cost effective approach for the current state of things in the building industry here and now. Steel structures give the flexibility of changing internal features of the spaces within. I believe there are substantial savings to employing steel on a projest in labor and materials costs. There are other advantages too. Steel is most economically utilized on larger sweeping spans of space, not all cut up into a dissaray of boxes housed under an otherwise potentially complicated roof structure. If you like cut up complicated roof structures and want that, I can do that too. But from a cost savings approach where the money saved on the structure can either reduce the project's overall cost, or give you more options on the finishes, heating and cooling equipment and components like cabinets, steel it the way to go. And it doesn't have to look like a metal warehouse! Or, the savings could be applied to a add solar installation that will increase savings of operation.
I can help you in any or all phases of planning, site selection, design and construction management for your project.
Any project of this nature has challenges associated with it. My goal is to provide the most at the lowest possible cost. There are many many considerations and options to achieve a stated goal. This process can be very fun, and as I mentioned challenging. I prefer to work with somebody that will keep their eye on the prize.
I have decades of experience with a focus on sustainability. I prefer to design something that works for you, not you working for it. This can be accomplished with smart investment and an open mind. Thank you for reading this post. Paul Friedlander

Hi, I have spent 38 years activity involved in promoting sustainability "green buildings" before there was even a "green". I began studying solar and hvac technologies at Texas State Technical College in 1979. A year later I was involved in over 100 solar water heating installations (domestic hot water, swimming pools and spas). At the end of that year the industry dried up partially due to the elimination of tax credits for solar. A year later I began studying architecture. I received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M in 1989 while concurrently serving in the US Air Force Reserves in a heavy construction combat mobility squadron, RED HORSE. I have always had an eye on sustainability and affordability. If you are considering building and want someone with the knowledge and real experience in active and passive solar approaches, plus a background in cost effective approaches to building for your actual needs, please contact me. I'm happy to address your ideas. I can help. I would prefer to help on projects of any size in Texas, but could travel beyond as the scale of your project dictates. A single family residence or a subdivision, let's talk. I am all about innovation, affordability and proven approaches. I have been involved with many substantially large commercial projects throughout many southern states. My experience goes beyond the drawing board (and/or AutoCad) in that I have physically worked in nearly every trade in the construction industry, actually hands on! I can help with renovations too! I can also explain investment strategies for those who want to build and reside in the home and sell it later.
