📢 HOMEOWNERS: When Was the Last Time You Looked at Your Insurance Policy?

Storm season is HERE, and one of the most important things homeowners can do right now is review their insurance policy.

Many people don’t realize their coverage may have changed over the last few years.

Here are 3 key things you should check today:

1️⃣ Your Roof Deductible

Your deductible is what YOU pay before insurance covers the rest.

Depending on your policy, it could be:
• Flat Deductible – Example: $1,500 or $2,500
• Percentage Deductible – Example: 1% - 5% of your home value

Example:
If your home is insured for $350,000 and you have a 1% deductible, your deductible would be $3,500.

Many homeowners are surprised by this after a storm.

2️⃣ What Type of Roof Coverage You Have

Insurance companies are changing policies more and more. Your roof may be covered in one of these ways:

RCV – Replacement Cost Value
✔ Insurance pays the cost to replace your roof
✔ Depreciation is paid back after the work is completed
✔ This is the best coverage

ACV – Actual Cash Value
⚠ Insurance subtracts depreciation from your roof
⚠ Older roofs receive much less money
⚠ You may have a larger out-of-pocket cost

RPS / Roof Payment Schedule
⚠ Coverage is based on roof age
Example:
• 5-year-old roof → 80-90% coverage
• 15-year-old roof → 40-50% coverage
• 20-year-old roof → very limited coverage
