Over the last week, I’ve gone on two inspections that ended up saving customers nearly $57,000 in unnecessary expenses.
One was a local business that had been told they were looking at around $15,000 in bed bug treatment after a detection dog alerted. They did have a bed bug issue, but after completing my own inspection, I found it was nowhere near the level it had been made out to be, and a treatment anywhere close to that cost simply wasn’t justified.
The other was a homeowner who had been told they needed a $42,000 attic restoration. After inspecting the attic myself, I couldn’t justify that recommendation either.
As a small business owner, I’m not going to sit here and tell you we’re the best… unless you ask the people who voted us Culpeper’s Best of the Best. We’re not always the cheapest, and we definitely aren’t the most expensive.
What I can promise is this: if I don’t find a problem, I’m not going to tell you that you have one. And if I do find a problem, I’m going to be honest about the severity of it and recommend what actually needs to be done—nothing more.
It honestly blows my mind that some companies are willing to scare people into spending thousands—or even tens of thousands—of dollars on work that isn’t necessary. Integrity still matters, and I don’t know how some people sleep at night taking advantage of others.
Please do your homework. Get a second opinion. Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to have another company take a look before making a major financial decision. It could save you thousands.
I’m incredibly grateful that both of these customers trusted Virginia Pest Management enough to give us the opportunity to inspect their properties. Earning your trust will always mean more to me than making a quick sale.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Virginia Pest Management. We’ll keep doing business the right way.
