Pulaski Elementary School in New Bedford, MA has a new 40-foot diameter replacement skylight in the central core of the school. The skylight was engineered by Kalwall and Structures Unlimited and replaces a leaky single-glazed structure with an insulated composite fiberglass panel dome on aluminum box tube framing, providing more light with less glare and significantly better thermal performance.

We're excited to celebrate the completion of the UConn Health Torrington Clinical Practice, a project that expands access to high-quality healthcare for communities throughout northwest Connecticut.

By transforming an existing commercial space into a modern outpatient medical practice, this renovation demonstrates how thoughtful design can enhance the patient experience while creating an efficient, flexible environment for providers and staff.

The 10,000+ SF facility brings together multiple healthcare services under one roof, supporting UConn Health's mission to deliver accessible, community-based care.

Thank you to UConn Health and the entire project team for the opportunity to help bring this vision to life!

Please join us in welcoming Edward Daniels to the edmSTUDIO team as our newest Design Associate!

Edward discovered edmSTUDIO through a mutual connection who introduced him to John Ineson, and we're thrilled that connection led him to our team.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Edward is a UK-registered architect with master's degrees in Structural Engineering and Architecture from The University of Sheffield. He brings a strong technical background with expertise in building envelope design, detailing, and energy code compliance.

Edward recently relocated to the United States in unforgettable fashion crossing the Atlantic aboard an ocean liner!

We're excited to see the unique perspective Edward's international experience will bring to our work and look forward to the insights he'll contribute to projects in the United States.

After an incredible 40-year career in architecture, we celebrated John Ineson as he begins his "soft retirement." We also got to celebrate his wife Buffy, who began her retirement from architecture on the same day!

For the past 24 years, John has been an integral part of the edmSTUDIO team, contributing his expertise, mentorship, and dedication to office operations and countless projects. John not only served as an architect but also a former owner of the firm. While we're fortunate that he'll still be available, it won't be quite the same without seeing him in the office every day.

John, thank you for everything you've done for our team, our clients, and our firm. Congratulations on this well-earned next chapter! We wish you all the best as you enjoy your retirement!

Last Tuesday, the Granby community came together to celebrate the groundbreaking of the West Street Building! 🎉

This exciting project will transform the former West Street School into a fully accessible municipal center bringing key town departments together under one roof and creating a more efficient, welcoming space for residents.

With major upgrades to accessibility, building systems, and safety, this is the first step in breathing new life into an important community asset.

We’re proud to be part of a project that strengthens how the town serves its residents, bow and into the future!

Wrapping up The American Institute of Architects Architecture Week with our final spotlight on emerging designer, Evan Wenchell

Evan’s passion for architecture started early, sketching historic homes in his town and developing an appreciation for their character and craftsmanship. Hands-on experience through home renovations, along with the influence of an architect uncle and carpenter grandfather, helped shape his path.

Guided by his mom’s words, “Be the change you wish to see in this world,” Evan was drawn to architecture as a way to make a meaningful impact. His early awareness of climate change and love for nature continue to fuel his passion for designing more sustainable, equitable spaces.

One of his favorite experiences so far has been working on renovations at the Ethel Walker School’s Ferguson Theatre, seeing a project evolve from early design through final concepts and witnessing how thoughtful design can transform a space.

His advice to students: explore as much as you can. Visit schools, connect with others, and immerse yourself. Finding the right fit makes all the difference!

Continuing The American Institute of Architects Architecture Week, discover how AJ Alessandrini discovered her passion for architecture.

It started with a high school architecture class she almost didn’t take and quickly turned into a statewide design win and a career in architecture. Now, she’s passionate about designing spaces like senior centers that truly support communities.

Her advice for students: don’t be afraid to try architecture, even if you’re unsure. Explore it in your own way, visit spaces, sketch ideas, and follow your curiosity. There’s no one “right” way to become an architect.
