What matters more—the tile you see, or what’s underneath it?
Today we wrapped up the flooring portion of this East Texas kitchen remodel.
The homeowners chose Shaw San Francisco brick-look tile, giving the room an aged, warm brick appearance.
But the part you won’t see when this kitchen is finished matters just as much.
We installed the tile over Schluter®-DITRA uncoupling membrane, which helps isolate movement between the subfloor and tile assembly and provides additional support and moisture-management benefits. It’s one of those details that disappears when the job is finished—but it’s part of building a tile floor that’s meant to last.
Swipe through and you can actually see the process from plywood → DITRA → tile → finished floor.
And we’re not done with this room yet. 👀
The homeowner is putting in Cabinets soon and we will come back to do the countertops and backsplash in the next few weeks, and I can’t wait to show you the finished kitchen.
The clients are thrilled with the floor already. Now we get to watch the rest of the room come together.
