Sometimes the most impactful spaces begin with an entirely different purpose. The original BattleCreek Church campus in Broken Arrow was once a shopping mall before being transformed into the thriving church campus it is today.

CJC Architects has partnered with BattleCreek for more than 15 years and over 50 projects, helping guide the phased transformation of the original campus and continued growth across multiple locations. At the Broken Arrow campus, our work has included a 1,300-seat worship center, kids worship and education spaces, administrative offices, and renovations to the main entrance.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful renovation and adaptive reuse can give an existing building an entirely new life—creating spaces that continue to evolve alongside the community they serve!

A great day for turning dirt and celebrating what’s ahead! 🪏 🚧 CJC Architects was proud to be in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Readiness Center for the Oklahoma Military Department.

Years of planning and collaboration have gone into reaching this milestone, and we’re honored to be part of the team bringing this important facility to life alongside LD Kerns Contractors and our project partners.

The new Readiness Center will provide a modern, purpose-built environment to support Oklahoma’s service members as they train, prepare, and serve our state and nation. 🇺🇸

We’re excited to see this one officially move from plans on paper to construction! ✍️ 🦺

You never know what you’ll find lying around the office…

Sometimes it’s a set of old drawings.

Sometimes it’s a piece of Tulsa history.

This vintage wastebasket came from The Adams Hotel—a landmark that our founders, Joseph Coleman, FAIA, and Bruce Ervin, AIA, owned during its historic rehabilitation, helping preserve the building and secure its listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the building has a new life as downtown apartments, but it’s fun to imagine this sitting in one of its guest rooms many years ago.

After more than 70 years of serving Oklahoma, we love being reminded that our firm’s story is woven into the history of the communities we call home.

As campuses prepare to welcome students back this fall, we’re revisiting Oklahoma Baptist University’s Thurmond Hall—home to OBU’s College of Engineering.

CJC Architects was honored to help transform the facility into a modern academic environment supporting engineering education, collaboration and hands-on learning. The project reflects our longstanding partnership with OBU and our shared commitment to creating spaces that serve students today while supporting the university’s future.

We’re excited to see Thurmond Hall continue to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Last week, the rain held off just long enough for the CJC team to enjoy one of our favorite annual traditions—our company BBQ!

Great food, friendly competition, and time spent together outside the office are all part of what makes CJC such a special place to work. We’re grateful for an afternoon of sunshine, laughter, and the opportunity to celebrate the incredible people who make our team what it is.

Here’s to another great year and many more memories together!
