A great project coming together in Shoreline... the Saint Luke Picnic Shelter is nearing completion!

This small 30x40 heavy-timber shelter was fully prefabricated and preassembled in our Tualatin shop before heading to the site, streamlining installation and ensuring a precise fit in the field.

Big credit to Gaffney Construction Inc out of Everett for handling the GC and installation work. It’s always rewarding to see another timber structure come together so smoothly from shop to site.

Brank's BBQ in Sumner, WA is the place to go when you’re craving serious portions. Ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, tri-tip, cornbread, beans, coleslaw, mac and cheese...if you want it, they’ve got it.

Soon, their space will match the boldness of their menu. Brank's is upgrading its restaurant with large, heavy-duty glulam trusses and beams, bringing a striking Northwest timber aesthetic indoors. Western Wood Structures was proud to be selected to prefabricate and assemble these custom Douglas Fir glulam elements, complete with black powder-coated steel connections.

It’s a timeless Pacific Northwest look—strong, natural, and built to last. Much like Brank's brisket.

The Albany Carousel Museum has a timber roof structure with serious character.

Western Wood Structures provided design assistance for the twelve-sided glulam Tudor-arch roof, prepared wood and steel fabrication details, supplied the timber members and steel assemblies, and completed the jobsite installation.

The result is a warm, expressive timber ceiling that complements the spirit of the carousel beneath it, blending craft, structure, and architectural presence into a single memorable space.

Keystone Wye Bridge | South Dakota

This bridge was originally designed by WWS, way back in 1959, when we were still called ‘Timber Structures’.

60 years later, in 2021, the original timber support columns and timber arches were still in excellent condition. The concrete deck panels were in need of replacement, and new glulam timber panels and an updated rail-and-curb system were recommended.

WWS designed the new panels, supplied and pre-fabricated the panels and rail system, and shipped all materials in a sequenced order to the jobsite.

A look back at construction for a project in Santa Monica, where Western Wood Structures designed, supplied, and installed the timber components for a multi-building office campus using Cross-Laminated Timber and Glulam.

The project includes three separate buildings, each four stories high, with roughly 16,000 square meters of building area. During construction, the exposed CLT panels and glulam members showed exactly why mass timber continues to stand out: warmth, strength, efficiency, and a visual presence that changes the feel of the entire space.

Placer River Trail Bridge | Anchorage, Alaska

At 85 meters, this is the longest clear-span timber truss bridge in North America. Located just downriver from the massive Spencer Glacier in Southern Alaska, it was essential that we accounted for the estimated snow load of 300 psf, which is heavier than a typical bridge’s vehicle load. The ambitious length and heavy snow load made this project an exciting undertaking for WWS.

We designed, fabricated, and shipped the project to the jobsite. A local contractor installed the bridge, with the help of a WWS jobsite consultant.
