Our crew had a blast at Southern Arizona Construction Career Days this week! 🏗️ Project Engineers Chase and Sam led a hands-on workshop where students learned to read construction drawings and catch mistakes before they reach the field. They picked it up fast! We’re glad the rain held off long enough for everyone to enjoy the day. Thank you to Building Futures Partnership, Pima Community College, and University of Arizona Online for making it happen. See you next year!

Project Spotlight: Candlewood Suites, Sierra Vista

How do you renovate 71 hotel rooms without closing the hotel? One floor at a time.

Our team gutted and refinished every guest room, updated the lobby and shared spaces, and gave the outside a fresh coat of paint, all while guests kept checking in. We hired local subcontractors whenever possible and called on longtime Tucson partners to fill the gaps. That's The Lloyd Way.

Project Spotlight: Town of Sahuarita Municipal Complex

As the Town's first civic space, this complex needed its own identity while fitting right in with the community around it.

Together with BWS Architects, we built Town Hall, the Police Station, and the Courthouse around a shared plaza that now anchors Sahuarita's Main Street. Despite early site challenges, we finished on time and within budget.

What is LEED certification, and why does it matter?

LEED is the world's most widely used green building rating system. Buildings earn points for things like energy and water efficiency, smart material choices, and healthy indoor air. The more points, the higher the level: Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.

For owners, that means buildings that cost less to run and feel better to be in. We've helped bring that to schools, housing, and more across Southern Arizona, and we'll be sharing a few of those projects soon.

Because We're Local

As our Warranty Services Manager, Debbie Clark looks after our buildings long after we hand over the keys.

This summer, she and her grandkids visited 15 Lloyd Landmarks, including the Brandi Fenton Splash Pad, Reffkin Tennis Center, Udall Center, Tucson Botanical Gardens, and Reid Park Zoo. Watching them enjoy those places is a pretty good reminder of why her work matters.

Project Spotlight: Pima County Historic Courthouse 🏛️

Happy Museums and Galleries Month! Inside this 1929 Tucson landmark, we helped build a new home for the University of Arizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum.

Crews added structural upgrades to support the collection, timed every exhibit case delivery on a site with no lay-down space, and restored the historic Dillinger Courtroom piece by piece.

We shift work into the early morning when we can and keep water, shade, and rest breaks built into every day. Concrete often goes in overnight or at first light. We help choose materials that hold up to intense sun and dust, and we protect native plants like saguaros so they return to the finished landscape.
