We're out and making our first application of the year. MSU's Growing Degree Day model has this as the prime time to begin applying the pre-emergent crabgrass control. This is also a good time to rake off any winter debris from the lawn and allow the lawn to begin growing.

We started making applications this week. Soil temperature on our lawn in Troy is 40 degrees, and pulled an 8" soil plug, so soil is not frozen as of Friday 3/20. Snow mold is on a lot of lawns and you can lightly rake it to get some air circulation around the turf.
