Robert Voss Obituary

Robert T. "Bud" Voss, 77, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, with his wife by his side at their home. He was born on March 20, 1949, in Orange, New Jersey, Bud lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and profession.

Bud graduated from Irvington High School in Irvington, New Jersey, before pursuing higher education at the Newark College of Engineering (now part of the New Jersey Institute of Technology), where he earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. He furthered his expertise with a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the same institution. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career in civil engineering and land surveying. He was also a Licensed Professional Engineer in several states and a Licensed Land Surveyor in a few states.

Over the years, Bud contributed his skills to several prominent organizations. He began his career at Bowser Engineers in East Orange, New Jersey, where he worked for 11 years as a licensed land surveyor and civil engineer. He later joined C.E. Lummus in Bloomfield, New Jersey, for two years before transitioning to Bell Atlantic Mobile in Bedminster, New Jersey. At Bell Atlantic Mobile and its international division, Bud spent a combined 16 years working on cellular tower projects domestically and internationally. His work took him across the globe and culminated with civil engineering positions in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Bechtel in Frederick, Maryland.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bud was deeply committed to his faith and community. He was an active member of Baptist and non-denominational churches throughout his life, serving as a Deacon, Elder, and in various administrative roles. His dedication to service reflected his steadfast belief in helping others and fostering spiritual growth within his community.

Bud was married in 1972, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Monica (nee Gresser). They lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Mexico City, Mexico and Maryland before settling in Indiana.

In addition to his faith and career pursuits, Bud found joy in photography as well as stamp and coin collecting. His favorite books to read were on the Civil War as well as Polar exploration. Bud appreciated classical music, with Tchaikovsky being his favorite composer.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Monica Voss; his children Rachel Voss; Matthew Voss and wife Emily; Sarah Dailey; five grandchildren; his brother Fredrick; sister Maggie Voss; sisters-in-law Lucie Voss, Iris Rasp and Carmen Gunn; brothers-in-law Scott Gresser (Marlene) and York (Kathy) Gresser and stepmother Ruth Voss.

He was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Voss, his father Jack Voss and his brother John Voss.

A man of integrity and devotion both personally and professionally, Bud leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faithfulness, and love that will be cherished by all who knew him.
May Robert T. "Bud" Voss's memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

There will be a Memorial Service at a later date.
