This weeks Fun Fact is making waves! 👀🐜🌊
With rain hitting the South Bay this week and the possibility of a wetter winter with El Niño, we thought this fact was fitting!
Some ants can literally link their bodies together to create a FLOATING RAFT when floodwaters threaten their colony. 🤯
Certain species, including fire ants, can form these living rafts to help the colony survive rising water. They even arrange themselves strategically to protect their queen and young. Talk about teamwork! 👏🐜
And with El Niño potentially bringing more rain to Southern California this winter, it’s a good reminder that pests can respond to changing weather in some pretty surprising ways. 🌧️
