Just a reminder homeowners... as some of you found out when I was thawing your pipes last year, heat pumps are great, and saving fuel is great.. but if you have a boiler you use for hot water, with baseboard heat then you need to set your thermostat for your boiler a few (at least 2 degrees) above the setpoint of your heat pumps. If your heat pumps don't run nothing happens, the air will not freeze. If your boiler does not run for an extended amount of time during this brutal cold your pipes can freeze. If your a bath resident, and have one of the older houses with horsehair plaster and nothing but newspaper for insulation, pipes can freeze in 30 minutes.
Trust me, the extra amount of fuel you use, isn't comparable to the amount repairs can cost you. Stay safe, stay warm!
