What if your laundry room just needs a facelift?

Not every remodel has to mean starting from scratch. Sometimes, the bones are good - the room just needs a fresh perspective.

For this laundry room, we kept much of the existing cabinetry and layout, but updated the finishes and details to completely change the way the space feels. A lighter, softer palette brightened the room, while a dark island added contrast and gave the space a beautiful focal point. New countertops, lighting, hardware, backsplash, and warm wood shelving brought in layers of texture and warmth.

The result? A hardworking room that feels lighter, more intentional, and much more like the rest of the home.

If your laundry room is functional but feeling dated, take another look before assuming everything has to go. Paint, countertops, lighting, hardware and a few thoughtfully chosen details can go a long way.

Golden Rule Happy Hours look a little different around here.

A few times a year, we trade our regular Friday afternoon work for a project that gives back to our community.

Our team brings the labor, Golden Rule covers the materials, and together we tackle projects that can make everyday life a little easier - things like safer steps, new handrails, accessibility improvements, and other needs around the home.

It’s a chance to step away from our usual projects, work side-by-side, and use the skills we have to care for the community we call home.

Good work. Good people. A few hours well spent.

Villa di Luce ✨

A beautiful kitchen is one thing. A beautiful kitchen designed to work for a blended family of 10 is something entirely different.

We borrowed square footage from the laundry room to expand our foot print and widen the walkways. This family really prioritizes family meals, so we walked through every step of their process to nail every detail. A 13 foot island, double sinks (and dishwashers!), paper towel holder above the trash, built-in appliances including a pebble icemaker, fridge drawers for all those extra bevies - all designed and fit in the space to eliminate bottle necks in the flow.

The result is a kitchen that feels warm and elevated, yet completely livable. Thoughtful details, generous gathering spaces, and a timeless palette transformed this kitchen into the true heart of the home. 🤍

We already had generous space to work with, but this primary suite lacked warmth, character and a place to slow down. Rather than letting the extra square footage go unused, we transformed it into a true retreat.

Sometimes the best room in the house starts as…a hallway.

What was once nothing more than a pass-through between rooms is now one of the most memorable moments in the home - a custom wine room that sets the tone before you even step into the dining room.

Framed with steel and glass doors, laid in custom brick flooring, and finished with beautiful white oak wine storage, a stunning quartzite backsplash, and integrated stemware storage, this space became both a functional feature and a work of art.

Beyond the wine room, the entire main floor was reimagined for our Villa di Luce project, creating a home that feels warmer and intentionally connected from room to room. Every decision was made to elevate how this family experiences their home every day.

When our clients dreamed about this living room, they didn’t want a bigger house. They just wanted this room to feel more open, balanced, and better suited for gathering.

So we bumped the exterior wall out just 2 feet.

Those extra 24 inches completely changed the feel of the space, creating room for a more functional furniture layout while allowing every piece to breathe.

From there we gave the fireplace a fresh new presence with a timeless re-clad, layered in custom built-ins that showcase the homeowners’ personality, and completed the space with thoughtfully curated styling. The result is a room that feels brighter, more intentional, and designed for the way this family actually lives.

Why design-build just works 🔨

When our clients imagined the perfect space for their teenagers, they didn’t want it to feel like a basement rec room.

They wanted an elevated space that all their kids’ friends would love to hang out in. Shoot pool. Watch movies. Stay home a little longer. And isn’t that what we all really want?!

So we chose moody charcoal walls and ceilings to embrace the architecture instead of fighting it, which took the cozy factor up a notch (don’t miss the before pic)! Rich reeded wood paneling hand-made by a local artisan added the perfect warmth and texture, and the world’s most comfortable sectional made this room everyone’s favorite (tbh, even mom and dad 🤫)
