Back in July, WIBW shared a story about an awesome new idea at Helping Hands Humane Society: a “rainforest-style” barrier in the kennel room designed to help lower noise levels, calm the dogs, and naturally purify the air in the facility.

Even better, the plants create a visual barrier that makes the kennels feel more like looking out a window at home rather than being in a traditional shelter setting.

We thought this was such a simple, creative idea that could make a big difference, so we were happy to share some plants with them!

We’re always excited to see creative ways to make spaces better for the people (and pups!) who use them. Thank you, Helping Hands Humane Society, for everything you do for our community and the animals in it!

Last Friday, we had a tee-rific time at the 28th Annual Topeka Facility Managers Association Golf Tournament!

We were excited to be joined by our friends Mike Gibson & Drew Brinkmeyer for a great day on the course!

The TFMA Golf Tournament is an event we look forward to every year because of the incredible people, friendly competition, and, of course, all the fun that comes along with it!

A huge thank you to the Topeka Facility Managers Association for putting on another fantastic tournament. We’re already looking forward to next year!

On Monday, we celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the newly remodeled Magellan Financial office!

This project has been an incredible one to be part of. Magellan Financial has created so many jobs in our community, and we are grateful to have helped bring their vision to life by creating a space that truly reflects who they are.

From the interior and exterior finishes to every piece of furniture thoughtfully designed for their employees, every detail tells a story. It was exciting to see that vision come together in a space that supports both their team and their continued growth.

A huge thank you to Murray & Sons Construction and the Magellan team for their partnership and collaboration in making this project possible. Congratulations on your beautiful new space!

Our team recently had the opportunity to tour the Mother Teresa Church project and see the incredible progress being made firsthand! There’s something special about watching a vision come to life, and it’s always exciting for the entire team to experience the work taking shape together.

We’re grateful for the chance to celebrate each milestone and can’t wait to see this project continue to come together!

Our very own Greg Schwerdt and Don Heiland have tagged along for this trip to see how SDG can help develop our capitol city!

Great start to our Intercity Visit in Madison. We’re here with business and community leaders learning from another Capitol city that has built real momentum around housing, innovation, downtown development, and quality of place. We look forward to bringing ideas home to help shape Topeka’s next chapter!

The funds raised through this event support Teacher Innovation Grants, which play a vital role in promoting creativity, engagement, and enhanced learning opportunities in classrooms throughout the district. Please join us in welcoming our newest team members to the SDG team!

Jose Garcia-Retana has joined SDG as our newest Project Designer. We are excited for Jose to begin his professional career with us and look forward to seeing the impact he will make on our team.

Michael Tipton is joining our Oklahoma City office as our newest intern. He will be working closely with Project Manager Shaun Elwood and gaining hands-on experience across a variety of projects.

Kristopher Snyder has joined our Topeka office as an intern. With his first week already behind him, he has hit the ground running and has quickly become a valuable addition to the team.

We are excited to support Jose, Michael, and Kristopher as they grow professionally and develop their careers at SDG. Welcome to the team!

This afternoon, part of the SDG team attended the Drake Development groundbreaking for Oldham Village + East Village! This transformative project in Lee’s Summit will create new growth and opportunities for the community for years to come.

Our very own Michael Scott had the opportunity to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony after being involved with the site planning and layout since day one. The SDG team has also been designing the core & shell for multiple retail businesses that will be joining the development.

We are excited to see this project officially getting underway and can’t wait to watch the vision come to life!

The custom wood glulam beams have officially been installed at the new Mother Teresa Catholic Church in Topeka!

These massive beams were specifically designed and fabricated for this project, with each one weighing close to 5,000 pounds. Glulam (glue-laminated timber) beams are created by bonding layers of wood together under intense pressure, allowing them to achieve both incredible strength and the beautiful curved architectural form seen in the church design.

We are thankful for our construction team at KBS Constructors for their amazing work in the project!
