We’re pleased to honor Cassie Benton, McElroy’s customer service manager, on her 20th anniversary with our team. McElroy’s promises solutions, and Cassie encourages service reps and technicians to take pride in their key roles in each success story. Cassie is a reliable, dedicated employee who makes decisions and owns them – earning the trust of colleagues and customers alike.
Cassie has been a customer-service leader for a long time and is still enthusiastic about going after new challenges. As McElroy’s service departments have expanded and been added, she has grown with them. When something can be improved, Cassie is eager to jump in, develop new processes and make things better.

We’re glad to congratulate Chuck Buss, McElroy’s commercial HVAC service tech, on his 30th anniversary with McElroy’s. Chuck has a proud history of doing everything he can to learn and apply smart methods to fix HVAC system challenges. His photographic memory and in-depth knowledge help him troubleshoot the toughest issues.
Chuck earned a unique reputation as a boiler-repair expert, making him a go-to specialist throughout northeast Kansas, and beyond. “It’s rewarding when a customer has a sticky situation, like a cranky old boiler, and they call McElroy’s to ask for my help,” Chuck said.
We appreciate Chuck’s hard-earned ability to spot whatever is causing an HVAC problem – and fix it – and his willingness to help his teammates learn and grow! (Click on photo to see Chuck’s full story.)

“I enjoy coming to work every day, and staying busy,” said Jeremy Maher, McElroy’s service plumber. “I spend about 80-percent of my time working in homes, and the other 20-percent at businesses. Plumbing problems stress people out, so wherever I am, I try to be compassionate and ease people’s minds. Solving challenges that worry people makes the effort worthwhile. The highlight is when satisfied customers request me the next time!”

Jeremy grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa, southeast of Omaha, Nebraska, and spent his high school years in Dallas. After graduation in 1994, he moved back to Iowa and started in the plumbing trade. “I learned the old-school way, putting in rural water lines for three years,” Jeremy said. “Then I joined a residential plumbing outfit in Shenandoah and worked with them until 2019.”

Jeremy moved to Topeka and worked as a plumber at a large industrial plant. “After a couple of years in manufacturing, I wanted to return to the variety of things a service plumber does,” Jeremy said. “I applied at McElroy’s and got on board in about a week. It’s a great environment. Everyone is friendly, easy to get along with, and always willing to help.”

Jeremy loves college sports, and is a Texas Longhorn, and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. His son, Jaythan, will soon turn 17 and will be a junior at Gardner Edgerton High School. Daughter, Tayla, is 18 and plans to attend junior college for computer science. “Jaythan loves cars and is working full time this summer, and Tayla has always been a computer nerd and artist who’s into 3D printing,” Jeremy said.

Jeremy brought 25 years of plumbing experience with him when he arrived at McElroy’s – along with his easy-going and thoughtful nature. We’re very glad he reached out to McElroy’s to continue his plumbing career. Jeremy is an important and highly appreciated member of our team, and we hope he’ll be with us for many years to come!
