❄ Freezing Weather Pool Tips❄️
We want to remind pool owners of a few things when freezing weather is expected.
Pools are designed to run to protect the pool during freezing temps.
**Keep an eye on your filter pressure to see if ice is building up inside the filter for long periods of sub 20 degree temps.**
Keep your skimmers and pump baskets clear of leaves and debris that will limit the water flow.
1. Leave your pool running! It has freeze protection. It is designed to protect the system.
2. Disconnect any autofill hooked up to a faucet.
3. Do not break any ice off of the pool, you may damage the plaster or stone.
⚠️ In Case of Power Outage ⚠️
If the power goes out unexpectedly, wait and see how long it is expected to last. If its a temp outage and under an hour, you should be fine. If its a rolling blackout and no time frame given, follow these steps....
1. Turn breakers off to all pool equipment
2. Open all pump lids
3. Remove drain plugs at the bottom of the pumps
4. Remove drain plug at the bottom of the filter
5. Remove drain plug on heater
6. Open the Jandy valves (black valves with handles). remove the silver screws and pull out the valve.
7. Remove any check valve (valve with clear plastic cover)
These steps will give the water a place to expand when it freezes and not put pressure on the pipes or equipment to crack them.
We hope this helps! Stay safe and warm!
