Lathrop Project Spotlight: ProMedica Generations of Care Tower

Designed and built to meet the growing healthcare needs of northwest Ohio, the ProMedica Generations of Care project transformed The Toledo Hospital with a new 14-level patient care tower connected to the existing campus.

The project delivered 613,000 square feet of new and renovated space, including Intermediate and ICU beds, new kitchen and dining facilities, outpatient services, major infrastructure upgrades, an expanded central energy plant, and a 450-space underground parking garage to support the hospital's continued growth.

Projects like this reflect our commitment to building spaces that strengthen communities, improve patient experiences, and support the future of healthcare.

Lathrop Project Spotlight: Glass City Metropark

What was once an industrial brownfield along the Maumee River has been transformed into one of Northwest Ohio’s premier public destinations.

Lathrop was proud to provide Construction Management services for both Phase I and Phase II of Glass City Metropark, helping bring Metroparks Toledo's vision to life. Together, the two phases reclaimed former industrial land and created a vibrant space for recreation, connection, and environmental restoration. From the iconic pavilion, event lawn, and kayak cove to the Market Hall, ice ribbon, adventure play areas, and miles of Riverwalk trails, every feature was designed to reconnect the community with Toledo's waterfront.

Today, Glass City Metropark stands as a testament to what's possible when thoughtful planning, sustainable design, and community investment come together.

Lathrop Project Spotlight: Sam Okun Produce Building Renovation

Completed in 2025, the adaptive reuse of the historic Sam Okun Produce Building is breathing new life into one of the Warehouse District's landmark buildings, transforming it into a vibrant mixed-use development that supports downtown living and commercial growth.

The renovation converted the 28,000-square-foot former produce warehouse into 14 residential units, commercial space throughout the first and second floors, and future retail opportunities, all while meeting Historic Tax Credit requirements to preserve the building's character.

At Lathrop, we're proud to have partnered with Crane Development on a project that honors Toledo's past while investing in its future. Every historic building restored is another step toward a stronger, more vibrant downtown.

Lathrop Project Spotlight: National Museum of the Great Lakes

Completed in 2024, Lathrop was proud to have partnered on the expansion and renovation of the National Museum of the Great Lakes, a project that celebrates the rich maritime history of our region while creating new opportunities for education and community engagement.

This 5,700-square-foot addition features new permanent and traveling exhibit spaces, a welcoming community education center, administrative offices, and a dedicated home for the historic St. Mary's Challenger pilothouse. Designed to enhance accessibility and the visitor experience, this expansion ensures that Great Lakes history can continue to inspire future generations.

Recognized with the 2025 AGC Build Ohio Award: New Construction Under $50 Million, this project showcases that at Lathrop, we're honored to help build spaces that preserve history, strengthen communities, and create lasting impact.

Lathrop Project Spotlight: Wayman Palmer YMCA & Inez Nash Park

More than a building, this project created a destination for community wellness and recreation.

This 50,500-square-foot phased project included a new YMCA facility featuring a full-size basketball court, fitness center, pool, outdoor splash pad, classrooms, and offices, alongside the creation of the adjacent Inez Nash Park. The park adds a loop walking trail, pickleball courts, open-air shelter, playgrounds, nature-based play, and welcoming green space for neighborhood use.

Together, the YMCA and park provide spaces for recreation, education, wellness, and community connection for generations to come.

Lathrop Project Spotlight: Dani's Place

Creating spaces that support healing, recovery, and hope.

Completed in 2025, Dani's Place was developed to help address a critical need in Northwest Ohio by providing a supportive environment for individuals transitioning from inpatient psychiatric care.

The facility features residential treatment areas, therapeutic spaces, community gathering rooms, recreational amenities, and life-skills learning environments, all thoughtfully designed and built to support continued recovery and long-term wellness.

We're proud to have played a role in creating a space that makes a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and families throughout our community.

Lathrop Project Spotlight: Toledo Lucas County Public Library: Mott

Lathrop is proud to have provided construction management services for the Toledo Lucas County Public Library's Mott, a modern 18,000-square-foot library that opened in 2019 and serves the Roosevelt and Onyx neighborhoods of Toledo. Designed by Bostwick Design Partnership (design architect) and Buehrer Group Architecture & Engineering, Inc. (architect of record and engineer), the facility was built adjacent to Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School and created as a welcoming community hub for learning, collaboration, and connection.

The project features a striking glass curtain wall and canopy system that fills the interior with natural light, a complex geometric patterned Rulon ceiling system, a raised access floor system, and an open-concept layout designed to support evolving community needs. Extensive site improvements helped create an inviting environment that connects the library with the surrounding neighborhood. More than just a building, Mott was envisioned as an anchor for the community, providing flexible spaces for education, technology, creativity, and engagement. The facility replaced the previous branch library and expanded resources available to residents, reinforcing the library's mission as a center for opportunity and growth.

We're honored to have helped bring this inspiring public space to life and support the Toledo community for generations to come.
