Last week our team had the privilege of joining fellow members of the Southeast Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association (SEMNLA) for their annual Day of Service.

Together, volunteers from across the Green Industry transformed the property of a local family whose loved one is currently deployed overseas serving our country. While they were making that sacrifice, the family had fallen behind on maintaining the property.

In a single day, dozens of volunteers donated their time, equipment, materials, and expertise to completely transform the landscape. It was incredible to see so many companies come together for one purpose.

We're grateful to SEMNLA for organizing such an impactful event and honored that our team could be a part of it.

Sometimes landscaping is about more than beautiful yards—it's about taking care of people.

While we're showing off this beautiful flagstone project... here's something worth pointing out. 👇

This patio is a great example of a wide-joint resin sand installation using Techniseal NOCO Storm.

One question we hear from homeowners is:

"Can we have a natural stone patio with wider joints?"

Absolutely.

Years ago, the common solution was mortar between the stones. While it looked great initially, freeze/thaw cycles eventually caused cracking, making repairs difficult, expensive, and often very noticeable.

This patio was built on a permeable open-graded base and the joints were installed with Techniseal NOCO Storm resin sand. It's now been through more than a year—including a full Northwest Ohio winter—and the joints still look fantastic.

Do we expect it to stay perfect forever? No. Nothing outdoors does.

What we do expect is a product that's much easier to maintain. If joints ever need attention years down the road, they can typically be cleaned out and refreshed with additional resin sand instead of tearing out cracked mortar joints.

It's one of the reasons we've become big believers in this installation method for natural stone patios.
