How To Kill Plant Disease on Pruning Tools
When a diseased plant is pruned, bacteria or fungus pathogens attach to pruning saws or shears and can infect other parts of the plant. Cross-contamination occurs when plant disease borne pruners infect healthy plants.
The two most common plant disease pathogens associated with pruning are: 1. Erwinia amylovora, which is bacteria that causes a fatal plant disease called fireblight. 2. Fusarium oxysporum, which is fungus that causes a fatal plant disease called fusarium wilt.
Fluids that have been used on pruning tools to prevent the spread of fireblight and fusarium wilt are: Bleach, alcohol, Lysol, orange cleaner and Pine-Sol. These pesticides are flammable, corrosive, smell bad or can cause rusting.
Prune Master Pruner Treatment is a fluid pesticide registered with the U.S. EPA. The pesticide active ingredient in Prune Master is thymol, which is a plant based antimicrobial derived from the herb thyme. Thymol is non-flammable, non-corrosive, anti-rusting and has a pleasant smell. Prune Master will kill 99.9% fireblight and fusarium wilt pathogens on contact.
Prune Master cleans, lubricates, stops rust and kills plant disease on pruning tools in one easy step. For more information about Prune Master Pruner Treatment, visit ezpruning.com
