๐Ÿšจ HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME โ€“ ROUND 6 ๐Ÿšจ

This week weโ€™re highlighting our Redi-Mix Division! ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ—๏ธ

What is our mission?
To deliver the highest quality concrete and customer experience in the industry.

The Haas Redi-Mix Division has spent years investing in the latest technology, industry-leading quality control, and a fleet capable of tackling any challenge. From record-breaking commercial projects to the toughest infrastructure work, we've built a reputation for delivering concrete that performs and service that stands above the rest. With hundreds of dedicated employees, our Redi-Mix Division continues to focus on consistency, reliability, and results.

Did you know that our Redi-Mix Division was the last of our company divisions to be established? While Haas, Inc. had been serving customers for decades, we officially entered the Redi-Mix business in 1996, expanding our services to provide quality concrete products throughout the region.

While we have expanded tremendously since 1996, we want to take you all the way back to when the Redi-Mix Division was establishedโ€”so your question for the week is:

Congratulations, Ben!
We've enjoyed watching Ben grow through the Youth Apprenticeship program and are excited to officially welcome him to our team full-time after graduation. His dedication, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn have made him a great fit at Haas, Inc.
We're proud to be part of his journey and can't wait to see what the future holds. Welcome to the team, Ben!

Regis High School graduate Ben Jentlie has turned his passion for diesel mechanics into a promising career opportunity through the Youth Apprenticeship program. ๐Ÿ‘

Throughout his junior and senior years, Ben completed a Youth Apprenticeship at Haas Sons, Inc., where he gained valuable hands-on experience working alongside professionals in the diesel mechanic field. ๐Ÿšจ HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME โ€” WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿ‘‹ Meet Ken, one of our Powder Drivers at Haas!

When you've been with a company for 45 years, you've seen a lot of changeโ€”and Ken has seen just about all of it. Ken was originally hired by Pauline Haas and has worked through three generations of the Haas family. If that doesn't make him a Haas veteran, we don't know what does!

Before joining the Powder Division, Ken spent years driving long-haul trucks and then worked as a dump truck driver for three years before making the move to powder hauling, where he's spent the last 12 years.

If you saw our Round 5 question last week, you may remember the powder truck featured in the photo. That's Ken's truck, and it's the same one he still drives today. After more than a decade behind the wheel, Ken says he wouldn't trade it for another truckโ€”even if "one of the Haas boys asked him to!"

Over the years, Ken has witnessed incredible growth at Haas. When he started, operations in Thorp consisted of about 10 dump trucks, 5 long-haul trucks, and one mechanic. Today, the company has grown tremendously while still maintaining the values it was founded on.

As Ken puts it: "I am sure Pauline and Dave are so proud of the business they started. It says a lot when you keep it in the family and continue to operate with the same core values."

When asked why he's stayed with Haas for 45 years, Ken's response was quick: "The Haas family treated me well from the start, and so did everyone else. There was never a reason to leave. The 401(k) is fantastic, we have good equipment, and a great group of people. What more could you ask for?"

Ken is excited to announce this week's winner!

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations, Rachel Mohr, our Round 5 Winner! ๐ŸŽ‰

โœ… The correct answer was B: False

Our powder trucks transport more than just cement and fly ashโ€”they also haul slag. A few of you even pointed that out in the comments!

A little powder truck education:

โ€ข Fly Ash is a material commonly used in concrete that helps improve workability, durability, and long-term strength.

โ€ข Slag is another material used in concrete that can improve performance, increase durability, and reduce the amount of cement needed in the mix.

Together with cement, these materials help create the quality concrete used in projects throughout our communities.

Thank you, Ken, for your 45 years of hard work, dedication, and loyalty to Haas. Employees like you have helped build Haas into what it is today, and we're proud to have you on the team.

Stay tuned for the next round of the Haas Weekly Guessing Game!

A special thank you to the employees who helped prepare the trucks and participated in the parade, proudly representing Haas, Inc. at the event. ๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿšจ HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME โ€“ ROUND 5 ๐Ÿšจ

This week we're putting the spotlight on our Powder Trucks! ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ’จ

Our powder trucks are especially interesting because while they are part of our Transportation Division, they play a major role in supporting our Redi-Mix operations and concrete production. These specialized pneumatic tankers haul dry powdered materials and use air pressure to unload them into storage silos at concrete plants and job sites.

Before we get to this week's question, let's do a little concrete education! Many people use the terms "cement" and "concrete" interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Concrete is the finished product created by combining cement, sand, rock, and water.

Now that you know the difference, it relates directly to today's question!

โ“ YOUR QUESTION โ€“ TRUE OR FALSE

Our powder trucks only transport cement and fly ash, two important materials used in concrete production.
A) True
B) False

๐Ÿšจ HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME โ€” WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿ‘‹ Meet Joel Kulesa, or as most of you know him, "Junior" โ€” a Supervisor on the Crushing Crew at Haas!

Junior's journey with Haas started in a unique way. After graduating high school, he spent the summer working for the City of Thorp. Partway through that summer, he found his way onto the Haas Crushing Crew as a laborer. Don't ask us exactly how it happenedโ€”you'll likely get a good story from Junior if you do! Over the past 18 years, Junior has built an impressive career with Haas. After 5 years as a laborer, he was promoted to Equipment Operator, where he spent another 5 years before moving into a Foreman position. Today, he serves as a Supervisor on the Crushing Crew.

When asked why he's stayed with Haas all these years, Junior said, "No day is ever the same. I'm always doing different tasks, facing new challenges, and it's never boring."

If you know Junior, you know he'll always tell you a good story. And if he comes into the office looking clean, it might be worth asking if he's feeling okay! Most days, he's covered in dust from wherever the job has taken him. If you ask Junior where he's been that day, you might want to pull up a chair firstโ€”you're about to hear a long list of jobs, projects, challenges, and places he's been before stopping by the office.

Junior has seen tremendous growth throughout his career at Haas. As he puts it, "I started when we had one crusher and 10 employees, and two of them were Jake and Jason. Now we're up to 60 employees and 7 crushers."

Junior is also featured in today's photo holding the winner announcement sign and is excited to announce this week's winner!

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations, Sarah Schesel-Hempleman, for being our Round 4 Winner! ๐ŸŽ‰
โœ… The correct answer was B) Base Course.

Thank you, Junior, for your 18 years of hard work, dedication, and never leaving us short on stories. We're proud to have you on the Haas team!

Stay tuned for the next round of the Haas Weekly Guessing Game!

๐Ÿšจ HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME โ€“ ROUND 4 ๐Ÿšจ

This week weโ€™re digging into the Crushing Division! ๐Ÿชจ๐Ÿšœ

First things firstโ€ฆ what exactly is โ€œaggregateโ€? ๐Ÿค”

Aggregate is the general term used for materials like sand, gravel, crushed stone, rock, and other materials used in construction projects. From highways and driveways to concrete and site prep, aggregate materials are a huge part of the work we do every day at Haas!

This week weโ€™re putting the spotlight on our Crushing Division and Aggregate Team โ€” because while most people may simply call it โ€œrockโ€ or โ€œsand,โ€ thereโ€™s a LOT more to it than that ๐Ÿ˜„

To break this weekโ€™s answer options down a little more, weโ€™ve included just a few examples of what falls into each category โ€” but trust us, there are MANY more kinds and sizes than whatโ€™s listed below!

โ€ข Sand = Washed Sand, Screened Sand, Mason Sand
โ€ข Base Course = Blue Granite, Dense Base, Red Granite, Recycled Base
โ€ข Rock = Washed Rock, Screened Rock, Rip Rap, and Boulders ranging from 3/4 inch all the way up to 4 FEET ๐Ÿ‘€ (that is correct โ€” not a typo, 4 feet!)
โ€ข Top Soil = Screened or Regular Top Soil

โ“ YOUR QUESTION:
What do we sell the MOST of?
A) Sand
B) Base Course
C) Rock
D) Top Soil

๐Ÿ‘‡ Drop your guess (A, B, C, or D) in the comments!
๐Ÿ“Œ All guesses must be submitted by end of day Tuesday

๐Ÿšจ HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME โ€” WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿ‘‹ Meet Chris Massie โ€” Dump Truck Driver at Haas

Chris has been with Haas for 5 years, and if you know him, you know one thing right awayโ€ฆ heโ€™s almost always smiling ๐Ÿ˜„

Before joining Haas, Chris spent 30 years working in precast concrete. After making a move to the area, he decided to give Haas a shot. He was hired right into the Dump Truck Division and has been behind the wheel ever since.

He came up to the area every summer as a kid and remembers watching Haas trucks go by. From seeing Haas trucks as a kid to driving one today, Chris has truly come full circle at Haas โ€” and now heโ€™s behind the wheel of one himself ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ‘

Chris did guess correctly, but he is not the winner this week. However, he is featured in the photo holding the winner announcement sign!

Before announcing the winner, โ€œThree Truths and a Lieโ€ had a lot of people second-guessing themselves ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿš›

And the results are officially inโ€ฆ58% of you guessed correctly with A โ€” that was the LIE!
โŒ While both Thorp and Eau Claire are dispatch locations, all dispatch communications for the Haas Dump Truck Fleet are handled out of our Thorp office only.

โœ… About 30% of you guessed B, which is TRUE!
The Dump Truck Division currently operates Peterbilt, Freightliner, Kenworth, Western Star, and International trucks. We may have tried to trick a few of you with the photo ๐Ÿ‘€ The picture used was an older one that included a Mack truck, but the key word in the statement was โ€œCURRENTLYโ€ โ€” and we do not currently run Mack trucks in the fleet.

โœ… 8% guessed C, which is TRUE!
Our Dump Truck Division plays a huge role in supporting multiple divisions across Haas. From hauling material out of Street Crew projects, transporting material from our pits in the Crushing Division to our customers and job sites, to keeping our Redi-Mix plants stocked โ€” the dump truck team helps keep operations moving every day.

โœ… And only 4% guessed D as the lie โ€” but that one is actually TRUE.
Haas started in 1961 hauling lime for the agricultural industry. Now, 65 years later, what started with Dave and Pauline Haas has continued through the next generations, growing into the company we know today. From their sons helping grow the business to now their grandsons carrying it forward, itโ€™s pretty incredible to look back on how far Haas has come.

๐ŸŽ‰ Now for the moment youโ€™ve all been waiting forโ€ฆCongratulations to Mandy Balk โ€” this weekโ€™s winner! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš›

Thanks to everyone who participated this week! We definitely beat our previous highest correct guess rate of 21% ๐Ÿ˜„

Can we beat 58% next week? ๐Ÿ‘€
Stay tuned for next weekโ€™s Haas Weekly Guessing Game, posted on Friday!
