🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME — WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

👋 Meet Joel Kulesa, or as most of you know him, "Junior" — a Supervisor on the Crushing Crew at Haas!

Junior's journey with Haas started in a unique way. After graduating high school, he spent the summer working for the City of Thorp. Partway through that summer, he found his way onto the Haas Crushing Crew as a laborer. Don't ask us exactly how it happened—you'll likely get a good story from Junior if you do! Over the past 18 years, Junior has built an impressive career with Haas. After 5 years as a laborer, he was promoted to Equipment Operator, where he spent another 5 years before moving into a Foreman position. Today, he serves as a Supervisor on the Crushing Crew.

When asked why he's stayed with Haas all these years, Junior said, "No day is ever the same. I'm always doing different tasks, facing new challenges, and it's never boring."

If you know Junior, you know he'll always tell you a good story. And if he comes into the office looking clean, it might be worth asking if he's feeling okay! Most days, he's covered in dust from wherever the job has taken him. If you ask Junior where he's been that day, you might want to pull up a chair first—you're about to hear a long list of jobs, projects, challenges, and places he's been before stopping by the office.

Junior has seen tremendous growth throughout his career at Haas. As he puts it, "I started when we had one crusher and 10 employees, and two of them were Jake and Jason. Now we're up to 60 employees and 7 crushers."

Junior is also featured in today's photo holding the winner announcement sign and is excited to announce this week's winner!

🎉 Congratulations, Sarah Schesel-Hempleman, for being our Round 4 Winner! 🎉
✅ The correct answer was B) Base Course.

Thank you, Junior, for your 18 years of hard work, dedication, and never leaving us short on stories. We're proud to have you on the Haas team!

Stay tuned for the next round of the Haas Weekly Guessing Game!

🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME – ROUND 4 🚨

This week we’re digging into the Crushing Division! 🪨🚜

First things first… what exactly is “aggregate”? 🤔

Aggregate is the general term used for materials like sand, gravel, crushed stone, rock, and other materials used in construction projects. From highways and driveways to concrete and site prep, aggregate materials are a huge part of the work we do every day at Haas!

This week we’re putting the spotlight on our Crushing Division and Aggregate Team — because while most people may simply call it “rock” or “sand,” there’s a LOT more to it than that 😄

To break this week’s answer options down a little more, we’ve included just a few examples of what falls into each category — but trust us, there are MANY more kinds and sizes than what’s listed below!

• Sand = Washed Sand, Screened Sand, Mason Sand
• Base Course = Blue Granite, Dense Base, Red Granite, Recycled Base
• Rock = Washed Rock, Screened Rock, Rip Rap, and Boulders ranging from 3/4 inch all the way up to 4 FEET 👀 (that is correct — not a typo, 4 feet!)
• Top Soil = Screened or Regular Top Soil

❓ YOUR QUESTION:
What do we sell the MOST of?
A) Sand
B) Base Course
C) Rock
D) Top Soil

👇 Drop your guess (A, B, C, or D) in the comments!
📌 All guesses must be submitted by end of day Tuesday
🎉 Winner + correct answer revealed Wednesday

🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME — WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

👋 Meet Chris Massie — Dump Truck Driver at Haas

Chris has been with Haas for 5 years, and if you know him, you know one thing right away… he’s almost always smiling 😄

Before joining Haas, Chris spent 30 years working in precast concrete. After making a move to the area, he decided to give Haas a shot. He was hired right into the Dump Truck Division and has been behind the wheel ever since.

He came up to the area every summer as a kid and remembers watching Haas trucks go by. From seeing Haas trucks as a kid to driving one today, Chris has truly come full circle at Haas — and now he’s behind the wheel of one himself 🚛👏

Chris did guess correctly, but he is not the winner this week. However, he is featured in the photo holding the winner announcement sign!

Before announcing the winner, “Three Truths and a Lie” had a lot of people second-guessing themselves 👀🚛

And the results are officially in…58% of you guessed correctly with A — that was the LIE!
❌ While both Thorp and Eau Claire are dispatch locations, all dispatch communications for the Haas Dump Truck Fleet are handled out of our Thorp office only.

✅ About 30% of you guessed B, which is TRUE!
The Dump Truck Division currently operates Peterbilt, Freightliner, Kenworth, Western Star, and International trucks. We may have tried to trick a few of you with the photo 👀 The picture used was an older one that included a Mack truck, but the key word in the statement was “CURRENTLY” — and we do not currently run Mack trucks in the fleet.

✅ 8% guessed C, which is TRUE!
Our Dump Truck Division plays a huge role in supporting multiple divisions across Haas. From hauling material out of Street Crew projects, transporting material from our pits in the Crushing Division to our customers and job sites, to keeping our Redi-Mix plants stocked — the dump truck team helps keep operations moving every day.

✅ And only 4% guessed D as the lie — but that one is actually TRUE.
Haas started in 1961 hauling lime for the agricultural industry. Now, 65 years later, what started with Dave and Pauline Haas has continued through the next generations, growing into the company we know today. From their sons helping grow the business to now their grandsons carrying it forward, it’s pretty incredible to look back on how far Haas has come.

🎉 Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for…Congratulations to Mandy Balk — this week’s winner! 👏🚛

Thanks to everyone who participated this week! We definitely beat our previous highest correct guess rate of 21% 😄

Can we beat 58% next week? 👀
Stay tuned for next week’s Haas Weekly Guessing Game, posted on Friday!

🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME - ROUND 3🚨

This week we’re switching things up to a classic: Three Truths and a Lie 👀

Instead of a single question and guessing the answer, we’re giving you statements — three of them are true, and one of them is a lie. Your job is to read carefully, think it through, and figure out which one doesn’t belong.

It’s all about testing how well you know Haas history, our operations, and especially one of the most recognizable parts of the company — our red, white, and blue Dump Truck Fleet 🚛🇺🇸

Over the years, these trucks have become a familiar sight across Wisconsin job sites, highways, pits, and plants. From classic rigs to today’s modern fleet, the Dump Truck Division has played a major role in the continued growth of Haas and remains a huge part of our day-to-day operations and company history.

❓ Which statement is the lie?

A) All dispatch communications for the Haas Dump Truck Fleet are handled out of our Thorp and Eau Claire offices.

B) The Dump Truck Division currently operates Peterbilt, Freightliner, Kenworth, Western Star, and International trucks.

C) Dump Trucks support the Street Crew, Crushing, and Redi-Mix divisions.

D) Haas started by hauling lime for the agricultural industry in 1961.

👇 Drop your guess (A, B, C, or D) in the comments!
📌 All guesses must be submitted by end of day Tuesday
🎉 Winner + correct answer will be revealed Wednesday

And finally… our highest correct guess rate so far has been 21% — let’s see if we can beat that this week 😄

🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME — WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

👋 Meet Wesley Haas — An owner at Haas. Wesley has been around Haas for as long as he can remember… because he basically has 😄

Wesley started his career at Haas sweeping floors in the shop and, like most shop legends, “eventually got promoted” to changing tires 😉 From there, he moved onto the Crushing Crew for a few summers and later transitioned into the Street Crew division.

His early years on the Pipe Crew started with laboring and backfilling work, before he eventually moved into an excavator operator role while also serving as a Foreman — we’d tell you how many years, but we’re not trying to age him today 👀

Today, Wesley helps lead the Street Crew Division alongside Craig Haas, staying hands-on and focused on developing the next generation of employees by sharing the same experience he once learned from.

For Wesley, Haas isn’t just a company name — it’s basically been home for as long as he can remember.

Wesley will be announcing today’s winner — and is featured in the photo holding the winner announcement sign!

🎉 Congratulations to Bonnie Niedzwiecki on being the Round 2 winner!

🏆 Correct Answer: D) Cadott

Thanks to everyone who participated in Round 2 of the HAAS Weekly Guessing Game! Only 11% got it right this time… we’ll let it slide, but do better next round 😄

📅 Stay tuned for next week’s round — another chance to test your Haas history knowledge and win!

Thanks again to everyone who played along 👀

🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME — ROUND 2 🚨

We’re back with another look into Haas history — this time focused on our Pipe Crew 👷‍♂️🚧

Our Street Crew division originally began with excavation work and has since expanded to include dedicated Pipe Crews. These specialized teams focus on underground utility and pipe installation projects and have become a key part of our operations.

💡Pipe Crew Spotlight:
Our pipe crews install everything from 1-inch service lines all the way up to 98-inch municipal pipe, supporting both private and public infrastructure projects across Wisconsin. Their work plays a key role in building and maintaining essential community infrastructure.

🏙️ What does “municipal” mean?
Municipal work refers to projects for cities, villages, and public utilities — things like water mains, sewer systems, storm drainage, and other public infrastructure that serve entire communities.

📍 Fun context:
This photo highlights one of our municipal projects — the Town of Union, County Line Road project in Eau Claire County (2024). On this job, we installed approximately 2,780 feet of storm sewer pipe, helping improve drainage and long-term roadway infrastructure in the area.

❓ YOUR QUESTION:
What was the first town Haas completed its first municipal pipe project with a dedicated crew?
A) Owen
B) Thorp
C) Stanley
D) Cadott

👇 Drop your guess (A, B, C, or D) in the comments!
📌 All guesses must be submitted by end of day Tuesday
🎉 Winner + correct answer will be revealed Wednesday
👕 Everyone with the correct answer will be entered into a drawing for a HAAS T-shirt!

🚨 HAAS WEEKLY GUESSING GAME — WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

👋 Meet Steve Shilts Jr. — Manager of the Thorp Shop. Steve has been with Haas for 23 years, starting out as a Shop Technician while attending tech school for Diesel Mechanics. Over time, Steve worked his way up and eventually landed the role of Shop Manager, where he now runs the entire Thorp Shop — and somehow keeps everything (and everyone) running smoothly (most days 😄).

When asked why he’s stayed at Haas all these years, Steve kept it simple: good pay, solid benefits, and it’s close enough to home that he doesn’t have to live his life on the highway.

Steve will be announcing today’s winner — he’s also featured in the photo holding the winner announcement sign!

🎉 Congratulations to Peggy Luzinski on being the Round 1 winner!

Thanks to everyone who participated in Round 1 of our Haas Weekly Guessing Game! Only 21% of you answered correctly — nice work to those who got it right!

🏆 Correct Answer: C) Dump Truck → Street Crew → Crushing → Redi-Mix

If you didn’t get it right this time, don’t go anywhere — Round 2 is coming soon and you’ll get another shot!

Here’s a look at how our divisions actually developed over the years:

🚚 Dump Truck Division: Haas got its start hauling lime, which became the foundation of what is now our Dump Truck / Transport Division.

🚧 Street Crew / Excavation: Early on, Haas also performed excavation work that grew significantly as the company expanded, helping shape what became our Street Crew and utility operations.

🪨 Crushing & Aggregate Production: As excavation and utility work expanded, our crushing division followed to support growing project needs.

🏗️ Redi-Mix Concrete: Finally, Haas entered the Redi-Mix concrete business, rounding out the core divisions we operate today.

📅 Be sure to check in on Friday for Round 2 of the Haas Weekly Guessing Game!

Thank you again to everyone who played along — stay tuned for the next round! 👀
