Swain Garage Doors was founded by Sam Swain with a simple mission: give homeowners a garage door company they can actually trust.
Sam was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and his roots here run deep. After years away, he and his family made the decision to move back home and build Swain Garage Doors in the Denver metro area. Today, the company is based in Thornton and proudly serves homeowners throughout the surrounding Colorado communities.
Before starting Swain Garage Doors, Sam worked as an operations manager for a large national garage door franchise.
That experience gave him a behind-the-scenes look at the garage door industry — the good, the bad, and the areas where homeowners deserved better.
He saw inconsistent quotes, rushed training, technicians who were not always properly prepared, and a business model that often pushed for the highest possible ticket instead of the best possible solution. Sam knew there was a better way to serve customers.
That is what led him to start Swain Garage Doors.
Sam built the company around honesty, clear communication, quality workmanship, and fair recommendations. If a garage door can be repaired safely, the team will tell you. If replacement is the smarter long-term decision, they will explain why. The goal is not to pressure homeowners. Family is a major part of Sam’s life and the reason he works so hard to build the business the right way. Sam is happily married to his wife, Libby, a full-time hairstylist in Denver and part-time accountant at Swain Garage Doors. Together, they have four children: Molli, Savannah, Rowan, and Caleb. For Sam, building Swain Garage Doors is about more than business — it is about creating something his family can be proud of and his community can count on.
When Sam is not working, he is usually spending time with his family, cheering on the Broncos, or trying to sneak away to the mountains. His favorite ski days are usually at Loveland or Winter Park — two places that remind him why coming home to Colorado mattered so much.
At the end of the day, Sam’s goal is simple: build a garage door company his family can be proud of, his customers can trust, and his community can count on.
