A complete front-yard transformation in Webster, MA!
This project started with a failed fieldstone retaining wall that was leaning, buckled, cracked, and ready to topple. We removed the entirety of the wall and rebuilt the entire system from the ground up.
The new wall was constructed with Ideal Fat Face 2.0 in Quarry Blend, finished with Ancestral Coping in Graphite. Beneath and behind the finished product is where much of the important work happened — a properly prepared and compacted base, Tensar uniaxial geogrid reinforcement, 4" perforated drainage, clean-stone backfill, and the home's gutter downspouts incorporated into the drainage system.
The walkway was installed using Ideal Andover Smooth in Andover Grey, accented with an Andover 5511 Smooth Graphite border. Ideal Chelmsford Steps complete the entrance and tie the walkway into the new retaining wall.
Both the segmental retaining wall and interlocking concrete pavement were constructed following current CMHA industry best practices. A lot of what makes a hardscape project last long term disappears underground when the project is finished. Proper excavation, base preparation, drainage, reinforcement and compaction aren't the exciting parts—but they're some of the most important. As part of the project, we also expanded the existing driveway to provide additional usable space. A local asphalt contractor will complete the final driveway removal, base prep, and paving.
