Do you want to hang a swing from a tree branch? Don’t wrap a rope or strap completely around the limb. (Like in the picture below.) You shouldn’t even allow a rope or strap to be looped around the limb loosely. Eventually this will choke the limb out causing it to decline or even die. The proper way to hang a swing from a tree limb is with lag screws or bolts. It does seem counter intuitive for an invasive method to be the better choice. However, this doesn’t hurt the tree and in the long run. The limb will grow around the lag bolts/screws and cause no harm. Follow for more helpful content about tree care and maintenance!
