What a fun local project coming together! ✈️⚡

We’ve been working with the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport on the new T-hangars in Dallesport, and it’s been fun watching this one take shape. The first units are already getting snapped up, which is pretty exciting to see.

Big thanks to Josh, our journeyman electrician who led the electrical work on this project. He’s put a lot into getting this one across the finish line.

Nice work to everyone involved — and if you’ve been thinking about hangar space, you may want to move fast. 😄

This is a pretty cool project to see completed! ⚡💧

Hage Electric had the opportunity to work with Ajax Northwest LLC on the Dee Hydro project. What makes it interesting is that Hood River already needed to reduce pressure in this water line now, instead of wasting that energy, part of it is captured and turned into electricity.

No, it’s not meant to replace a major dam or power all of Hood River. It’s about using existing infrastructure in a smarter, more efficient way.

The project is expected to generate about 16 million kWh over 30 years, with a projected payback of around 15 years.

It also took years of planning, public investment, and support from the City of Hood River, Energy Trust of Oregon, and the Oregon Department of Energy to make it happen creating work for local and regional contractors along the way.

A great example of what can happen when communities, funding partners, and contractors work together.

City leaders and staff gathered 11 miles south of Hood River on Aug. 27 for a ribbon-cutting seven years in the making, unveiling the Dee Hydro in-line renewable energy project.

The installation, which appears above ground as a large, colorful pipe and turbine, taps an existing pressurized municipal pipeline and makes the water multifunctional, capturing energy that would otherwise be wasted in the system while continuing distribution of high-quality drinking water. The future-forward project is set to generate roughly 16 million kilowatt-hours of electricity over its first 30 years.

⚡ 7:24 PM - Power outage update

We’re experiencing another outage affecting customers in Dufur and Tygh Valley. There’s lightning in the area, which may be a factor.

👷 Our crews are on their way out now. They’ll check the fault indicators to narrow down the location, then work to isolate the section and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

A note on timing: during fire weather, we take extra precautions before re-energizing a line, physically patrolling it first to make sure everything is safe rather than simply flipping it back on. That adds time, but it’s an important step to protect our communities during wildfire season.

Sometimes a review hits you right in the heart and reminds us why we do what we do. This is one of those times.

On June 11, 2025, the Rowena Fire changed our community forever. Families lost homes, memories, and a sense of normalcy overnight. Since then, we’ve watched an incredible effort unfold as homeowners, utilities, contractors, electricians, excavators, tree crews, engineers, and countless others have worked together to help our neighbors rebuild.

At the same time, we’re thinking about the Lyle Hill Fire and the firefighters working tirelessly to keep another community safe. Their courage and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we’re grateful for everything they’re doing on the front lines.

We recently received a review from Doc D., who lost their home in the Rowena fire and is continuing the long process of rebuilding. These kind words mean a great deal to our team, but they also remind us that restoring a community takes all of us.

We’re grateful to be one small part of that effort and proud of every trade, company, utility worker, volunteer, and first responder who has shown up to help our neighbors move forward.

There are many sides to Zack Ziegenhagen.

From his days as a student at The Dalles High School, to hunting with his dad, to making us laugh with his sense of humor, Zack has always brought energy and determination to everything he does.

Today, though, we’re celebrating a major accomplishment.

Zack has officially passed the Oregon Journeyman Electrician Exam. ⚡

Becoming a journeyman electrician doesn’t happen overnight. It takes thousands of hours working in the field, years of classroom instruction, dedication to learning the National Electrical Code, and a commitment to mastering a craft that keeps our homes, businesses, and communities running safely.

Over the years, Zack has worked alongside and learned from many outstanding electricians, including Taner Elliott, Dean Roderick, Daryl Richman, and countless others who have invested their time and knowledge in the next generation of our trade.

He has spent years balancing work, apprenticeship classes, studying, and the daily challenges that come with learning a skilled trade. The journeyman license represents more than passing a test—it’s proof of perseverance, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.

Today we celebrate not only what Zack has accomplished, but the leader he is becoming at Hage Electric.

Congratulations, Zack. We couldn’t be more proud of you

Another great day of job shadowing at Hage Electric!

Recent The Dalles High School graduate Zakery Greene spent the day with one of our Rock Star electricians Daryl Richman, getting a firsthand look at the electrical trade.

By the end of the day, it was clear Zakery enjoyed the experience and could see himself pursuing a career in the trades. Opportunities like these give young people a chance to explore career paths, ask questions, and discover where their talents and interests may lead.

We’re grateful to Daryl for sharing his knowledge and helping introduce the next generation to the skilled trades.

Congratulations to Zakery on his recent graduation, and a special shoutout to his parents for the support and encouragement that helped him reach this milestone.

We wish him the very best as he takes the next step in his journey. AND, we look forward to seeing him in a Hage Electric Truck!

You all are so welcome! Super Happy to help support such a great cause. Thank you for all you do for the sweet animals in The Gorge that are waiting for their forever homes. 🐾 also , Thank you to Taner for facilitating this all for them!

Our Dog kennels are aged and in pretty bad shape.

Our building recently had a major lighting upgrade to low energy LED lights. Although this upgrade was much needed it left some kennels a little dark and gloomy.

We reached out to Hage Electric & Construction Services, Inc. for some help and they didn’t hesitate for even a second to lend a helping hand. Thank you Hage Electric for your support and helping us keep the dogs as comfortable as possible while they wait for their forever homes 🐾 🩷

As the Distinguished Young Women of Wasco County participants prepare for their program this Saturday, it’s a good reminder of the families behind these incredible young women.

Riley Elliott is one of them, and we’re lucky to know her through her dad, Taner, our Service and Residential Managing Electrician. You can truly see the support, encouragement, and values these parents have poured into their daughters.
