Hi, I’m Jess, the heart and hands behind Sew Lovely Alterations!
I’ve been sewing since middle school, but I’ve been specializing in bridal and formalwear alterations since 2015. What started as a love for creating and fixing things eventually turned into the business I once only dreamed about owning.

After leaving my position as an alterations manager during COVID, I took a leap of faith and started sewing from home. Thanks to all of your support, Sew Lovely Alterations has continued to grow and now has a home in downtown Lafayette.

At Sew Lovely Alterations, I specialize in bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses, formalwear, suit alterations, steaming, bustles, hems, and more. While weddings are still a huge part of what I do, I also now offer casual alterations as well. From everyday clothing repairs to helping your favorite pieces fit just right.
My favorite part of this job is getting to know the people who walk through my door. Seeing someone light up when their garment finally fits perfectly never gets old.

When I’m not sewing, you can usually find me spending time with family, putting together charcuterie boards, gardening, or planning my next creative project.

One of the things we value most at Freitag-Weinhardt is the strong workforce development culture built through our partnerships with the skilled trades. The dedication, discipline, and countless hours required to earn and maintain a Building Trades Journeyman (BTJ) card is a tremendous accomplishment, and a true reflection of the professionalism within our industry.

While touring the $2.1 billion manufacturing facility currently under construction in Terre Haute, we had the opportunity to reconnect with three brothers who all completed U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship programs and built careers in the trades. Collectively, they hold an impressive range of industry-recognized credentials in welding, heavy rigging, applied trigonometry, and more.

Although each of them has worked with Freitag-Weinhardt over the years, this marks the first time all three brothers have worked together for the same contractor on the same jobsite. It was an honor catching up with the Atkinson brothers and recognizing the skill, commitment, and craftsmanship they bring to our industry every day.
