Did you know that the average person uses about 50 gallons of water per day? That means a family of four will use about 200 gallons per day. If you just had your 1000 gallon tank pumped it will be full in about 5 days. Once the tank is full the additional water pushes some of the waste that is already in the tank out into the field lines where it is absorbed by the soil. This is how a septic system works.
These water usage figures are estimated by the US EPA and can be different than your family’s usage.
You should have your septic tank pumped every 2-5 years. This removes the solid waste in the tank that has not been broken down into liquid. These solids take up room in the tank and they can also clog your field lines. Call us at 770-562-9473 or 770-942-PUMP.
