We were excited to join Scottsdale Community College, Maricopa Community Colleges, and the City of Scottsdale - Government this week to celebrate the groundbreaking of SCC’s new Equine Science facility!

This 22,000 SF project will create a dedicated, hands-on learning environment at one of the nation’s premier equestrian venues. The facility will include 10 horse stalls, a hay shed, an equipment shed, and a dedicated farrier station—supporting real-world workforce development in a professional setting.

Previously, the program operated without a centralized clinical training facility, requiring students to travel across the Valley. This new site at WestWorld will bring hands-on learning into one location, creating a more accessible and sustainable experience for students and faculty.

Thank you to our partners for the collaboration and trust. We’re excited to bring this impactful project to life and look forward to its completion in Summer 2026.

The Caliente team kicked off the summer season with a night at a Arizona Diamondbacks game!

It was a fun opportunity to get together, enjoy some great baseball, and spend time outside of work alongside our friends, families, and kids. These moments are a true reflection of our core value of having fun together and building relationships not just as coworkers, but as a community.

As we close out Construction Safety Week, we are reminded that the conversations, commitments, and actions taken over the past several days are just a snapshot of what safety should look like every day.

At Caliente, safety is not just a priority for one week, it is a responsibility we carry on every project, every day. Throughout the week, our teams participated in project Stand Down meetings to pause, reset, and refocus together, alongside team lunches and safety giveaways that brought everyone together and reinforced key messages in a meaningful way. These moments created space for open dialogue, shared accountability, and a renewed dedication to doing the job the right way.

We continue to invest in ongoing education and strengthen our collaboration with our risk management partners, ensuring our teams have the tools, knowledge, and support they need to work safely and confidently.

Safety is not the responsibility of a few. It takes every single one of us. From the field to the office, everyone plays a role in protecting one another.

Because at the end of the day, the goal is simple: everyone goes home safe.

The ribbon is cut, and the City of Avondale Fire Training Tower is officially open and already being put to work, with firefighters actively training at the facility!

Caliente Construction is proud to celebrate alongside the City of Avondale, AZ, Avondale Fire & Medical, and the community at this week’s Official Ribbon Cutting event. With training demonstrations and food trucks on site, it was a great way to see the community come together, share in the excitement, and mark the completion of the project.

This five-story, state-of-the-art training facility includes a burn building, flashover chamber, SCBA maze, rappelling tower, and a wide range of hands-on training environments designed to prepare firefighters for real-life conditions.

This project represents more than just a building; it’s an investment in training, safety, and the people who protect our communities every day. Supporting fire service and public safety is something we’re proud to stand behind. It’s always great working alongside LEA-Architects to help bring this vision to life, and we’re honored to have delivered a facility that will serve Avondale and surrounding departments for years to come.

Happy Earth Day from the Caliente team - Today is a great reminder of why we love what we do!

We’re grateful for our clients and partners who share our commitment to creating spaces that encourage people to get outside, stay active, and connect with their surroundings. Our Parks & Recreation projects with the Cities of Tempe and Phoenix, along with Maricopa and Pinal Counties, are just a few examples of the kind of work we’re proud to be part of. And as a team, we also embrace that same spirit outside of our projects, regularly coming together for outdoor activities that reflect our culture and connection to the communities we serve.

Building and enhancing spaces that bring people together and support healthy, connected communities is something we don’t take for granted. It’s a meaningful part of how we contribute to the places we live and work.

Spring is here and that means our softball team, the Caliente Crushers, are back in action!

This season is off to a strong start with a great mix of returning players and new teammates joining the roster. What makes it even better is getting to see everyone together outside of work, competing, laughing, and enjoying time as a team in a different setting.

These moments reflect what we value at Caliente. We’re spirited, we show up for each other, and we genuinely enjoy working and spending time together. That same energy and teamwork we bring to our projects carries right onto the field.

We also appreciate any excuse to get outside, have some fun, and build stronger connections along the way. Looking forward to a great season ahead with the Crushers!

Please join us in welcoming Jeremy, Eric, Brooks, and August to the team. They bring strong backgrounds in field and project leadership, construction experience, and technical expertise, supporting work across both operations and project delivery.

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on what an impactful and exciting month it’s been for our team!

From celebrating Women in Construction Week, which holds special meaning to us as a woman-owned business, to recognizing the strength, leadership, and momentum of women across our industry, it’s been a time filled with connection and pride.

We were also honored to celebrate our CEO and President Lorraine Bergman, as she received the Wink Ames Memorial Award for Pioneers in Construction at the 36th Annual Construction Executive of the Year Banquet. It was a truly special evening shared with the CFMA Valley of the Sun community and one we will not soon forget.

To top it off, we are proud to share that we have been named the #2 Women-Owned Business in Arizona by the Phoenix Business Journal.

We are grateful for our colleagues, partners, and community who support us, and we are excited to keep breaking new ground, both in our projects and in creating more opportunities for women in construction!

We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Cordia’s Energy Center Phoenix Plant 4, marking the start of construction on a new chilled water facility within the Phoenix Bioscience Core!

The new plant will add approximately 10,200 tons of cooling capacity and operate on 100% renewable electricity, supporting the growing energy demands of downtown Phoenix. The system will deliver chilled water to key facilities across the district, including the new Arizona State University Health headquarters, while also supporting ongoing development tied to the University of Arizona and other partners within the bioscience core. The project will also feature artwork from local high school students, bringing a unique community element to this large-scale infrastructure project.

Construction features of the 12,000+ square foot facility include CMU walls and structural steel, large-diameter steel piping, and integration into Cordia’s existing chilled water loop, expanding both system capacity and reliability. District cooling systems like this improve efficiency across multiple buildings, reduce the need for large on-site mechanical systems, and lower overall energy use and emissions.

Caliente Construction is proud to be part of the team alongside Cordia, IMEG, Deutsch Architecture Group, CCBG Architecture, Dibble, and many other partners, helping deliver this impactful project and supporting the continued evolution of the bioscience district. We are excited to see this one take shape and the lasting impact it will have on the community.
