Water was pooling in her backyard…
Even though Mrs. S. had gutters and downspout - the water still wasn’t getting far enough away from her house.
It was pooling by her house and if she didn’t get it fixed soon?
The water would likely get into her basement and possibly cracking her home’s foundation.
So what needed to be done?
Just have longer downspout extensions so the water is farther away from the house?
In some cases that can work.
In this case?
Mrs. S only had gutters on the front of her house and because of some trees that had grown large over the years, parts of her property, that used to be just fine, now had a slope that led water back to the house.
After walking the property and taking into account the way the water flowed, we were able to fix Mrs. S’s water pooling issue by doing two things.
First we put gutters on the back of her house so the water didn’t fall off her roof and next to her foundation.
We also moved her existing downspouts (and extended them) so her big beautiful tree was no longer channelling water back toward the house.
Now Mrs. S doesn’t have to worry about water pooling in next to her house anymore.
