Top Hat Chimney Sweeps is a locally owned Central Texas home-service company looking for our next Service Technician.
You do not need chimney experience.

In fact, some of the qualities we're looking for can't be taught nearly as easily as the trade itself.

We're looking for someone who can work with their hands, shows up when they say they will, takes pride in doing a job correctly, communicates well with homeowners, and wants their income to grow with their ability and performance.

We'll teach you the chimney and fireplace industry. You bring the work ethic.

What you'll do
As a Top Hat Service Technician, you'll work in customers' homes throughout Central Texas performing chimney sweeps and inspections, fireplace and chimney maintenance, dryer vent services, and—once properly trained—repairs and installations.

This is a hands-on position. You'll work on roofs, use ladders and tools, diagnose problems, document your findings, communicate recommendations clearly to homeowners, and complete quality work our customers can feel confident about.

This is not a high-pressure sales position. Our technicians are expected to identify legitimate conditions, educate customers honestly, recommend appropriate solutions, and perform excellent work.
Compensation

Our technicians are paid through a performance-based compensation model of 25% on qualifying completed job production.

Established Top Hat technicians currently earn approximately $1,200–$1,500 in a typical week, depending on production, season, services performed and completed jobs.

That's approximately $62,000–$78,000 annualized at those weekly production levels, although earnings are not guaranteed and will vary.

We believe people who develop valuable skills, take care of customers and produce excellent work should have the opportunity to earn accordingly.

You may be a great fit if you have experience in:

Construction, HVAC, roofing, masonry, fireplace work, appliance installation, maintenance, handyman services, mechanical work, restoration, pest control, home services, military trades or another hands-on field.

Chimney experience is a plus—but it is not required.

We care greatly about:
- Reliability and personal responsibility
- Strong work ethic
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Comfort working with ladders, heights and roofs
- Professional appearance and communication
- Respect for customers and their homes
- Coachability and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently after training
- Pride in quality workmanship
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

This is physical work, performed indoors and outdoors in Central Texas conditions. Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential physical duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

This homeowner is in the middle of selling her property to a VA buyer, and during the process, items were identified that needed to be addressed with the fireplace.

These photos were taken during a recent chimney inspection, and what we found was hidden deep inside the flue system:
• Cracked chimney tiles
• Deteriorating mortar joints
• Structural separation inside the chimney liner
